Hi adam welcome to the boards,
Tell us a bit about yourself,
    Peter

In coral, “save as” and chose from the drop down list the file type

Found that, it gives me the options to save as DXF and DWG files, but nothing about Polyarc. I can save as the DXF and DWG, but when laser cut, the curves are made up as flats. In Signlab you can save as DXF/DWG(polyarc), which we have had people save for us, and when laser cut it comes out as a perfect curve.

I work for a family based sign company in sheffield, who mainly deal in fabrication and viynl graphics. Design wise, we work in Freehand, Photoshop and Solid Works

    Adam,
Im not familiar with cad files but what happens if you convert all the coral drawing to curves first? then export/save as.
    Just a thought

Hi, just saved some text in coral to DXF and it asks how you would like to save it, I clicked save text as curves, and opened it in auto cad and it looks fine, curves or curves, so not sure what your problem is, may be talk to the machine supplier.

    In CorelDraw 11

Save as > save as type > DXF – Auto Cad > save > (then a box should come up
Export to Auto Cad) export version I put 2002, and then click export text as curves.

Cheers, for that, gonna try and send that to the laser cutters and see if they can work from that. Thanks for your help!

Yes, some people with laser cutters struggle with Corel Exports as DWG… shame really, it’s their loss of business if they cant figure it out or buy Corel etc.

its a disaster to use corel to export out as a dwg or dxf , no matter which way you do it , you end up with a pline or a curve with a zillion nodes or flat line segments if you open it in Acad.apart from that results are always erratic , like a closed circle in corel often is not closed in ACAD.
Fine to import a dwg into Corel but not vice versa. the problem is some machinery really doesnt like this form of exporting from corel , like engraver and some lasers , The resultant files can take forever to engrave anbd due to a billion nodes , be really difficult to manipulte and work with. What is the exact application , what laser are you using etc?
Check http://www.autodesk.com and some of the other cad sites for viewers with expot utilities or export utilities.
What is the native format the file is in anyway that you need to save as a dwg or export to dxf in? Perhaps you can use a plt file too for an Acad based cutting applicationnn?
Adobe illustrator cs2 will export out as a dwg too and will input most formats like cdrs , eps dwg etc.

Try going to http://www.aidsoftware.co.uk and if need be speak to Jim who can give you ‘chapter and verse’ about DXF – DWG and the joys of getting stuff in and out of Autocad and still retaining file formatting.
