Cutting Probs
Posted by Mark Pack on 20 November 2005 at 11:00Hi all. :lol1:
I’m having trouble with my cutter. I have a Graphtec FC2100-60a, and up until now was working perfect. Now all of a sudden the offset is all messed up. The end cuts aren’t joining up and the image looks all p$@*ed. I’ve gone with the manual and adjusted accordingly but nothings changed. Any advice? Today would be great cause I’ve a sign to finish.
Cheers Mark

not saying this is your problem but… sometimes if your machine isnt loaded correct there is a pucker in the middle (between pinches) as the blade cuts text it can cause text to sorta look wobbly and not finishing.
now you may have it loaded correct, but because of the extreme cold just now the paper backing of your vinyl for the first few metres can be affected and cause it to wave/distort.again, this isnt techy advice, it maybe a setting or something but thought ide mention it because of the weather just now.

How old is it mate?
Had this exact same problem when I had my graphtec. The only thing that ever goes wrong with them, from what I hear, is that the blade carrier goes bung, and causes the blade not to rotate properly. Circles become ovals etc.
We replaced the carrier after a frantic call to the service guys and all was sweet.
Other than that, your cutting strip may need replacing.
That was our only problem we ever had with it.
Hope that helps.

Have you accidently altered the offset in the menu, and is the Knife turning freely in the holder, sometimes it can stick with a bit of vinyl or glue build up?

Thanks for your speedy replies.
1) Cheers Rob, but vinyl looks OK.
2)I may have knocked the settings, but can’t be sure.
3)Blade seems to be rotating OK. No clogging.
4)As for the carriage, it could be. What kind of price am I looking at for one of these? -

Hi Mark,
Your off set should be set to CB09x-0 if you are using a blue topped graphtec blade holder and a new blade, if you are using a Harry davis set up CB09x-+2 , if the tip of your blade has gone you can have bad offset problems, also if the head assy has come loose,
if the blades not rotating the cut lines are usaully rough especially on curves, if the cutting strip is badly worn put a couple of layers of masking tape and a top layer of sellotape, on and this will work for a few jobs.if you have no luck give us a bell in the morning , see if we can help,
cheers
Jeff

I think I’d better try a new blade. Where’s the best place for replacement blades?

Hi Mark,
You can buy them direct of Graphtec, but there a a few adverts in the sign mags for Graphtec blades from other companies, don’t want to break any board rules, as I work for Graphtec, there are two types available standard CB09 and the higher grade CB09UA ,
Cheers
Jeff
