magnetic signage: phonophobia
Posted by MarkB on 6 November 2005 at 11:39Hello,
Just thought I’d post my First ever commercial job which was for a pair of these magnetics, I had a poetic license with it so any constructive critisism will be taken on-board.
Kind regards
Mark
P.S – he is getting his van re-sprayed white soon.

No shame in them Mark. The small text would be too small to read from a distance, but magnetics are more a ‘recognition thing’ than a full blown sign anyway.
Well done. Printed I assume?
I think you mean ‘artistic license’ coz poetic license mean something completely different, here at least 😛

No Sir,
It’s vinyl it was a pain to line up as I had to lay the blue vinyl swirl first and also ensure the O in the text was lined in later but I learned a valuable lesson – take your time.

You did well Mark. Check out Robs demo on registration marks. Makes the job heaps easier.
Good job

They look pretty high-class for magnetics!
One suggestion is to round the corners….I always do.
It seems to help prevent blow-off.
Nice work.
Love…..Jill -
Looks good to me.
Why not reduce the pain with some registration marks?

Nice job
Love the layout :thumbup2:If you need to round the corners as Jill says just use scissors.

I’ll be learning about the registration marks as he wants a bigger set soon, but thanks for the comments, do most of you cut the magnetic sheet with your plotter?.

This is a new one on me. My cutter and it’s cutting strip is sacred, I wouldn’t dream of cutting right through any material on it.
We cut magnetics with a Javelin usually, or sometimes with a small guillotine. Stanley knife and ruler does as well.

no mate. I use .9mm japanese magnetic coz it is the best around.
I lay the magnetic sheet on a steel panel that has been taped to my table, so it does not move, and lay it that way. I use weed borders on the vinyl cut text as my cutting guide too, saves having to measure twice.
Then I trim the magnet with a knife.
Easy peasy
