  • Motorcycle tank pads templates?

Posted by ccmotorsport on 4 November 2005 at 09:44

Does anyone have an idea where I can get templates for cutting out motorcycle tank pads.

Perhaps there is a cross-reference list of what shapes fit what bikes, because at worst we will have to buy some so we can get an idea of space available.

    Carl.

    Hi Carl

What are you trying to do with them

I think the sizes are pretty standard. Every time I have bought them they seem to be the same size.

I think I remember this question coming up earlier this year.

Got a feeling Nik posted a link to a site that had loads of tank sizes & details.

Do an advanced search for past threads.

    Cheers,

I take it you mean the anti zip scratch type thingies? If you design them right, you can make one shape fit a variety of tanks. The ones I used to make were sort of like a vertical bar with ribs coming out horizontally, then domed. You could visit a bike showroom and ask if they’ll let you take some templates from stock bikes – that’s what I used to do.

Hi, found that link but it was just going to a google page with loads of images.

Really looking for actual templates (before we are forced to buy some in), any ideas ??
