    Hello everyone,
I am trying to connect a Splash Rip to a Xerox dc12. After I was informed by Xerox that although I payed them they cannot connect the 2 nor do they support Splash units in Greece, I am left with 2 machines. I am not mac savvy so any help would be appreciated on how to connect them.

    thanks iosif

i not used a Splash RIP but I know it’s the Mac one…

Do you have Xerox contract? the DC12 breaks down when used heavy, it’s an engineer call monthly normally for a printing business.

So, what have you got.. have you got the splash connected with the two large SCSI cables and the machine waiting?

Does the RIP find the Printer?

    Have you been here http://www.support.xerox.com/go/prodselect.asp
as the splash drivers etc are there.

However connecting a EX12 Rip to a DC12 and DC3535 is easy, the EX12 comes on a CD that unpacks onto the RIP station, it then searches for the DocuColor and then allows you to connect to it. Very little setup so I guess the Splash is the same.

I don’t have a contract with Xerox. I just bought the machine secondhand and has come to me with a faulty cobra controller which I replaced with an external Splash (a g3 mac with splash card and 2 big wires). The Dc12 actually sees the splash because when I unplug the cables its menu tells me “network controller disabled”. In the main splash screen I get “device not connected” though all the time.
I am not shure if the Mac settings are correct (appletalk, tcp/ip)

I can’t tell you how stunt I was when Xerox told me they can’t help me (although I paid them to connect the machine) and when I asked them to contact Xerox abroad to find some solution they refused.

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

if your using the 2 chunky big cables, one goes into the scanner and the other goes into the printer, but they must be in the right order.

Appletalk and TCPIP shouldn’t come into it at this stage… infact you should be able to print and file via the CDROM on the RIP.

I just ploughed through support… cannot find any reference to anything to help but as long as you got the TWO leads connected right, it should work.

I just had a technician coming in and fixed the whole thing in minutes. When you are tired it’s best to leave it to so else. He basically did everything I did (in a different order ?) and now I can print. The only thing I dont have is Web Queue Management. I dont seem to have a default.html in the splash folder.
If anybody can help with that it would be great.

    Thanks

Funny you say that Dave. 3535 is in my splash folder so although a different version rip they might have both web Queue management.

By the way I have bought the machine secondhand and have all serials but no original cd. I am not asking for pirate copies I just need to reinstall the software as I do not get ANY support from Xerox Greece.
