  • Windows TTF to Mac conversion.

Sorry about this folks, because I know I have seen it here before, but I never have much luck with the search engine.

I have a Windows TTF font which I need to get to work on my Macs but I can’t find out where to get the conversion tool from.

    Anybody remember?

There are lots of programs to do this. I happen to use TransType from Fontlab and it works very well. However, I only use it if I really need a PostScript type 1 font or such for a pre-OS X Mac (I have a Mac running OS 9 here for some legacy work). In OS X you can access PC truetype fonts through FontBook (standard with OS X current versions).

    Hope this helps.

Go to http://www.asy.com and look at Crossfont (shareware) this definitely does MAC to PC and I’m fairly sure other way round. You can download anyway. Check out Transmac on the same site

Just run Crossfont and options are there.

The old Fontographer can still convert them.

Look out as Windows TTF are sometimes really bad created, specially if they are freeware or shareware.

You need to close open paths, fix directions, overlaps,….

    Thanks lads. sorted now.

Aitor, good advice about quality of creation. Fortunately in this case it is a font that was professionaly done as a corporate font for one of my customers. The only thing it suffers from, as do they all, is the kerning on the 1 which makes telehone numbers always need manual adjustment. I hate that and wish somebody would sort it.
