I thought Id post this for people to have a look at. Design was hand drawn by a local artist and she wanted it made into a sign. I decided to make it using vinyl only so I could keep the colour vibrancy she wanted. Took me a little while to scan and clean up the vectors but once done cutting and applying was fun 😀
Apart from the white part at the top everything was applied wet.

Good one Jayne. Looks like a fun job, and well done for not going the easy route and printing it. I agree that solid vinyls have a nicer look for flat colour and are more suited sometimes.

Thanks! I did enjoy putting it together, its nice to do different things once in a while.
Took me quite a while to scan and vectorise the artwork I think about 6 hours maybe less, it was one of those jobs that I kept coming back to as it turned my brain to mush after an hour or so. cutting took about 1 and a half hours and applying took just about the same.

:appl: Well done Jayne. Jobs like this are never ‘fantastic money’ but sometimes it is more about the craft than the income isn’t it.

You should be both pleased and proud of the result and effort you put in.

    Thanks for sharing (again)

That looks great Jayne!!! A lot of effort put into it … and it shows 😀 …. makes a nice change to see vinyl used liked this instead of opting for print.

    😀

Thanks for all the great comments 😀
I was lucky that I had a piece of dibond as an offcut from another job, also I had all the colours I needed as left overs from previous jobs because otherwise the job would have been a non starter due to having to buy in so many materials and the additional cost this would have incurred.
Shane you’re right, sometimes it is nice to just do a job for the enjoyment of the craft not always for the amount of money you’re going to make on it. I might not make as much as I’d like on this one but I will still make something and I think the sign will advertise what I can do and will hopefully bring in similar work 😀

Well done Jayne, as has been said I also think that solid vinyls look better on some multi colour jobs.
As Shane has said not well paying but shows off the craft. Thing is I bet she is extremly happy and you dont know who she knows and could send your way.

    Looks really good Jayne,
I suppose you had no alternative to do most of it wet, About half of it is in the sea anyway!
