Hi thought I’d show you the van Windows that I did this week based on the tutorial that Robert did.

I printed and cut the whole thing on a Cadet. You may notice that the lettering doesn’t have the cut lines through, I did the first ones with the 2mm cut line right through and the lettering just about disappeared so I then did these ones with the lettering left whole.

Fitted dry and then trimmed off round the edges.

It works really well with the lines neatly invisible from inside, on the outside you have to get your eyes right up to the window to see in.

I know the designs not very imaginative but for once the customer knew exactly what he wanted down to the colour, placing etc so I wasn’t about to complain! I did do him an alternative design but he still liked his original better.

Hi Stephen, has the lettering got a cut outline to it as well? Works really well, I did one after Robs demo but you could see in quite easily so the next one I will reduce the gap.

By the way the dot on the i in services has gone a stray 😉

Stephen, did you put the white lettering on the inside or outside of windows?

I have done 4 of this type with the strips on inside of glass & lettering on outside but have Astra van to do next with the stripes but he wants to still use his rear wipers so not sure how to do the prints for the rear window to fit inside !!

I have tried printing on clear vinyl (in mirror image) but it prints too faint.

    Nice work Steve,

John, there should be no reason why wipers cant be used when vinyl is applied to the outside, the stripes if say 6mm with a 2mm cut out should be no problem also. as in Robs demo, they ar better done vertically though.

Hi Peter, I have no probs with the lines on inside of window it’s how do i print the logo to go in between the lines & the glass when printing a full colour logo that cannot be printed in reverse onto clear. (too faint)

If i printed on to normal white, then laminate, then fit onto outside of glass it wouldn’t take long till the wipers start lifting the print.

    John,
I’m not sure if we are barking up the same tree here.

Steves job is just viny, if you were printing the image you would be better off using contra-vision or similar with the holes already cut out.

Not sure how print with laminate would stand up to the wiper though.
But plain vinyl should be ok. I have only had one problem, and that was because the strips were to thin.

    Thanks for the comments.

Why didn’t I see that dot 😮 I’ll have to put it on when he comes to collect some other signs.

All the back window thing was printed onto white vinyl and then cut so the cut lines and the lettering contour are welded, in other words it’s all one piece of vinyl.

It’s fitted to the outside John, You can reverse print onto clear and then back it with white vinyl, that makes it stand out. Mine wouldn’t work on the inside as it would all be white although I could print onto clear and back it all with white then cut the contour and lines.

so.k. peter, beginning to think it was me.

Stephen, yes i see your point, i will weld the printed lettering & logo to the stripes then laminate then send to cut the lines & contour. No real choice but fit to outside.
