Vehicle Graphics: Ocean Bathrooms
Having recently bought a Cadet, this is one of my first print and cut attempts on a van using the new printer.
The design was drawn up in Casmate Pro – then the main lettering was given a graduated fill using Corel Draw. The design was then printed – allowed to dry overnight, then laminated by hand with clear vinyl before contour cutting the lettering and applying as normal.
I was well pleased with the result and the short time it took to fit this job. All in all a good learning exercise for me and the type of work I hope to do more often on vehicles.

what tape did you use phill?
nice job mate.
did you give the silicon recesses a good go with heat before you fitted them? always have issues with the material popping until I got the low down about the silicon coating used on these window recessed areas

nice & simple layout & looks real tidy too.printing, laminating, cutting etc… all a learning curve, like everything else in our game. i recon you done real good. specially laminating by hand. nice one 😉

Phill a little tip for you
Laminating with clear vinyl I’ve done it and you always get small silvery bits in dark areas well I do I bit the bullet and got some proper laminate 209 I think its called from Europoint.
try it you wont go back this stuff is so thin and sticks like the proverbial and the finish is so much better than clear vinyl.
One thing I will confess to is that when I first got it I thought they sent me the wrong stuff as I couldn’t get the backing film off I thought there wasn’t any.
I used a small peice for some on some sticky film I had and when I took it apart the relaese liner came away felt a right clutz I find I have to stick a corner to the bench and pick it apart.Goop

yep, same here gordon… used it for first time not so long agao doing a part wrap. very thin and has clear backing. odd to see at first but does work very well.
oh and your not alone, i actually called and asked should i take extra caution or whatever with it. but nope… just use as normal. :lol1: -

:lol1:Never heard of this, is this an oracal product? I use 290 laminate, but not heard of 209, with a clear backing no less. Is this like the clear backing on the 3M 7725?
Is it a cast? being so thin

it is 290f shane….as i looked it up after forbies advice on what laminate to use, as i hate the silvery sheen you get from other vinyls. it is a cast 50 microns thick 😀 i have just ordered a roll cant wait to see the difference 😀

290gf is for one way vision here . $1300 a roll here 🙁 not heard of 290f

its maybe not the same stuff shane…..as its only over the £250 mark here for a full roll 1370 wide 😮

Thanks Nik, had a look on the Oracal’s web site here in oz tonight, to check if they bring it in, but the site is down for upgrading.. 😥

I just ha d a look at the stuff I recieved. When i ordered I asked for clear laminate for Oracal 3651 in 750 wide
Laminating film 220HG doesn’t come in 750 and they don’t slit inhouse. So I had to take 290F which in actual fact is 290GF (on the box I recieved) and is a 10 year cast film at twice the price.
Next time I will get the 220HGGoop

200 series would be good enough for 3651 Forbie, even cheaper again.
I use 215hg or sg for 3551 because they are both polymeric, but 200hg is a monomeric. Not sure now if 3651 is a mono or a poly. Must check on that I suppose. I use the 200hg on the 3164xg because they are both mono’s
