  • whats the best cleaning option before applying 851?

Posted by Darrell Wootton on 6 September 2005 at 18:41

    Hi,

I have been asked today what a client can use to clean a fascia.

The fascia is made from Oracal 851 vinyl – I have checked the factsheet for the 851 but can’t see any reference to cleaning.

    Can anyone advise?

    Regards

    Darrell…

    hi
basically most things you would use to clean a car, just no undiluted chemicals etc. Soapy water is normally fine unless its extremel dirty

as has been said… go to a car valet supplier, ask for tar and glue remover. this removes grime and glue gunk brill and is the cheapest i have found. if removing the vinyl at first there are various options. check demo and replies to demo in demo section covering this. 😀

ahh in that case i say soapy warm water… dont use a cloth with nylon in it though as it can damage the surface, not as in damage damge just dull the shine. i think nigel mentioned in a back post he shined up some vinyl with a polish after wiping down a wrapped car. not sure what he used though… pledge? 😕
