    Hi all,

A quick tip that I discovered today. I had to produce 6 trade boards for a local company. On it were the usual trade logos, some with text only 3mm high. After spending 30 minutes trying to weed one I got a bit cheesed off.

I re-cut logo complete with weed box, then removed the excess vinyl around box leaving logo unweeded. Then I taped up as usual and applied to board. Once tape was removed it was just a matter of removing remaining waste vinyl – total time to apply and weed 5 mins.
Not only that but the text was perfectly aligned.

Luckily it was only a one colour logo, but I guess it would work with Rob’s alignment method.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Cheers

    Terry

This one was mentioned quite some time back, but well worth repeating. Thanks for the tip, it really can make an awkward fiddly job so much easier.

Somebody told me once sticking small graphics in the ice box or fridge before you weed helps………I personally don’t like it as my beer gets warm

    Hi Terry

I sometimes use a technique called ‘reverse weeding’ that Carrie mentioned a while ago for weedinf small text.

You cut, then tape up, remove the graphic from it’s backing, turn over and weed.

The text stays stuck to the app tape and then you stick it back on it’s backing.

    Works for me

I first read your tips about weeding fiddly bits somewhere on UKSB. I had turned down a job just a few days previously, coz it just wasn’t worth the time or hassle.
After reading the threads, I tried bith weeding off the board and reverse weeding. Guess what? No more turning down fiddly jobs again!

    I love this site!!! 😀 :clap2:

I wish these tips could be used with t-shirt vinyl……

i have a 13 piece football kit staring me in the face here….

have to first block out original text with a white oblong , then press the new company name over the top , and add very small “vehicle repairs” underneath..

biggest prob is the company name and the oblong , there larger than my press , so have to do this bit in 2 steps

    13 oblongs x 2 presses
    13 company names x 2 presses
    13 “vehicle repairs” 1 press

    = 65 presses & a whole lot of weeding

    I owe the guy a favor , so only a £50 job…….

Still not a happy man though…..
    🙁
