Need to paint on vinyl – what paint type should I use?
Posted by Brian Little on 9 August 2005 at 20:20Hi folks looking for advice on what type of paint to spray onto vinyl .ive tried that “odds and ends” paint but a pure disaster .When i took the application tape off it came off with it !! 🙁 . Is car paint the answer ?
Regards Brian
Ps another thing with that paint is it never really dried …a bit tacky …a bit like the whole job really 😀

Hello there, if you go to page 8 Rob has a demo painting on vinyl, apparently car paint is no good, If I remember rightly Rob uses something called frog juice, hope this helps. regards Mark

From memory, isn’t it coloured frog juice, laminating and colouring at the same time?

We use Krylon Fusion over here, don’t think they sell it cross the pond tho.
I have used regular spray paint and then cleared it with 1-Shot UV clear in an aerosol can.
(prior to weeding, of course)
Let dry at least a day and mask with lo-tack app tape just before applying it, and apply wet.
Try a few test pieces first. I always wet the app tape before removing it too.
Love….Jill
