The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are undergoing a re-branding excercise.

Apparently many Scots are unaware that the SSPCA are a seperate entity to the RSPCA (Its English Counterparts). Consequently, (and with the popularity of “Animal Hospital” on Television) many Scots who make donations do so to the RSPCA not realising that the SSPCA are not the recepients of their generosity.

The re-branding exercise is being undertaken to try and raise the profile of the SSPCA in Scotland and to try and avoid confusion with the RSPCA.

A new fleet of 40 Vauxhall Combo Vans have just been leased and are being signed up in their new livery. These vans are Dual Fuel which means they run on LPG as well as ordinary unleaded fuel. (The advantage of LPG is that there is no duty to pay as there is on petrol). With their new fleet of vans the SSPCA can expect to make major cost savings in the running costs of the vehicles.

The new livery, this is being fitted using Oracal 751 series vinyl with red Nikalite reflective vinyl fitted to the rear of each van:

Shown below is a “Gaggle” of vans showing the Old and the new liveries for comparison, also shown is a close up of the new livery

They do look good and at least they explain the logo. The first ones if you didn’t know what initials were you wouldn’t have guessed from the van. And I hadn’t realised that the RSPCA didn’t cover the whole country.

I think the correct collective noun for a collection should be an “M-25”

I too thought that the RSPCA covered the whole of the British Isles

    New scheme looks good
