  • Need help matching Pantone colours please?

Posted by Stacey Clinch on 2 August 2005 at 12:22

I am wondering if anyone could help me, the company that I work for has decided to change their logo……and I am desperately trying to match the Pantone colour, which they have chosen.

Does anyone know if there is a company out there that will match a pantone colour, or is it just a case of me trying a different swatch of vinyl from different manufacturers??

The Pantone colours that I am looking for are 1925, and 2955.

I would really appreciate some help on this one!

You could try avery, or get a screen printer to flood coat something, or get a digital print supplier to try and match it.

Either way, it is not an exact science

Depends on how much vinyl you need.. some companies will pantone match vinyl but to make it cost effective you’ll proberly need to order something like 500m.
But it may be far less, not sure as i’ve never asked

Your right Simon, I think Oracal will match as little as 250 or 300 mtrs, Avery I think is about 300 mtrs.

It is a good option but only of you plan on using a lot obviously 🙄

oracal 751-067 blue is not a bad match to 2955, but the pink red will be hard to find, maybe get someone to flood coat, in either digi or silkscreen

I do a lot of work for 👿 Designers 👿 and got fed up with the daft pantones they chose for various companies, 1 being Stockport Council and when we had 250+ vans to do, it was a nightmare. What I do now is when I get a swatch from a supplier, I always ask for 3 or 4 more and pass these on to the designers and tell them to pick a vinyl and THEN pick the ruddy pantone to match. Seems to be working 😛

    It’s a nightmare isn’t it.

I recently had an enquiry calling for RAL2000. Even when I pointed out that nothing they already had was even a close match, not even the colour their product is sprayed in, and that I could get closer then that with a standard vinyl they, still kept spouting RAL2000.

    Grrrrr.

That’s what I’ve been doing also Dave, and if they still insist on pantone colours they will have to pay a height premium
