We have been asked to do a post office front. Now I’m aware that they (the PO) guard their logo quite strictly and have approved manufacturers, but we aren’t going to do the actual logo, only the green swoop and words Post Office.

As such I was hoping that someone would be able to help me with a Pantone approximation of the Post Office green colour. I have been given an inkjet print, but as we know these can vary wildly in colour.

Obviously I would prefer to use a vinyl, but if I have to colour match it and print it on the cadet then I will.

Heres hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Robert

thats what i would do…go with your pantone book down to your local post office and get a close enough match, or with vinyl swatches which would be better 😀 as for an inkjet print your quite right….not a good idea 😛

    Hi Robert,
if you are doing a bona fide post office, I’m sure the post office would supply art work colours etc. we have had colour issues with big companys,
if the smaller post office confirms you have been asked to do the work, they may give you a pass word or such to get into their artwork site because they would sooner tell than get a wrong font or colour because they are quite pedantic about that sort of stuff.
    Just a thought

The Post Office have selected sign companies to supply their signage. Some subs don’t like paying their silly prices so will purchase locally. I did some internal signage a while back using a standard vinyl green and setting up the rest myself.

good point lynn..but on my experience, depending on which company it is…this can take forever 😕 quicker in my opinion to drive down and get a match yourself 😀

Wow thanks for the flurry of advice. I’ve actually done exactly what Nik suggested. I’ve gone down there with a swatch and got the bloke to choose a colour. Its actually a Post Office attached to a convenience store.

He was thinking he was going to get a grant for the signage but turned out he couldn’t. Therefore he’s just matching the PO sign colour to the existing sign he’s got on the other half of his unit which happens to be green. (Its a Londis shop)

He was going to be fussy but the quote from the official supplier was more than he thought was sensible so he’s gonna do his own thing.

Just as an aside while we were there he showed us a window vinyl which he had bought from the post office. It was about 1000×450 printed on clear vinyl. one colour and was wrong and it cost him £75! AND he had to fit it himself. (Which he made a terrible job of). I would have thought that the post office would have supported the little sub offices a bit more than that.
