Painting Galvanised Sheet
We have been asked to quote for stripping existing vinyl and paint from a couple of roller shutter covers, then repaint and put the new name on in vinyl.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what paint we should use and how to prep the galv sheet?
We need to get a colour match to adjoining units, its a blue somewhere about Pantone 281.
Any ideas would be gratefully received.

i used to fabricate boxes, ducting etc from galv sheets, once you’ve got the old paint off, clean down with thinners, etch prime undercoat, then whatever top coat you intend to use can go over that,
cant answer as per the vinyl tho,

I did consider it, but all the other units in the row are painted, and the owner wants some consistency. The primer and paint are only about £15 as it turns out so I think I’ll stick with that. I’m sure there are many who would go the vinyl route, but personally I think paint is the way to go in this instance.

i really couldnt see a vinyl applied to a roller shutter door lasting too long ! would take forever to do too.

Its not the door itself only the cover at the top. The bit that the door actually rolls up into. 🙂

ah right !! still cheaper to paint i guess, i had visions of a shut down door being flooded and then all the slits being cut and trimmed !!! could think of better things to do than that, anyways, good luck with it !
