  • can anyone help with mutoh rockhopper38 advise please?

Posted by David Walker on 10 July 2005 at 13:21

have been using rockhopper38 for about 3 months know, i find that the printed image doesn`t stand up to much once weathered.

after initial print and drying it seems quite robust but as soon as its spent a month in uk weather it scratches and rubs off quite easily..

can anyone advise any compatible inks or alternative..

    thanks dave…

ps… any other digital print advise would be greatly received (hell of a learning curve?)

I assume that u r using Eco sol plus inks as i am with my Rockhopper 62″.
Have been learning my machine for last 2 years. Finally admitted defeat & just bought a laminator, (more expense).
Just found out recently that the main fault with mine is that it needs a 3rd heater, approx £1,000 (even more expense).

looks like ill have to go down the route of getting a laminator,

any suggestions on laminators (cheapest possible)

also flood coating laminate is this even possible by hand…

suggest you look for the “easy taper” manual cold lam machine, by all accounts very good. One of our members on here has just got the agency to sell them Scotland i think.
Do a search on here for the topic “easy taper”
Are you using the “plus” inks or the original?

If using the original inks you could use the “Frog juice” to clear lam the prints but not so good on the plus inks.

Lam by hand is possible dry but doesn’t seal if applied wet, a lot easier by machine plus it has many other uses as well.

You could try applying liquid laminate by paint pad. It works well for some companies I know.
