Illustrator file help
Posted by John Childs on 4 July 2005 at 10:41I have been given the attached file, on cd, which purports to be an Illustrator file. My problem is that it won’t open on my computer.
None of my usual tricks work and I would be grateful if somebody else could give it a go so that I can decide whether it is my kit or a bad file.
Thanks

Can you rename it and post it back on the boards. The original wont import into VMP
Cheers

When I try and import it, it says it is not an ai but a pdf file.
But when I try and bring it in as a pdf, it sees the fonts, but then crashes my system.I wonder if it is not a MAC version?

I just tried re-saving again as an older version (9) it reduced the file size quite a bit so don’t know if it did anything to the file (sorry i’m not very familiar with illustrator), anyway…have a look.

I imported into corel as a pdf then saved as an ai file.

Debbee…..
My copy of Illustrator CS2 arrived on Friday but the computer that came with it wouldn’t boot up and has gone back to the supplier this morning so I am still using 10. However, your file came up with “this file was created by a newer version of Illustrator. Would you like to import it?” I clicked the Yes box and up it came. Many thanks.
Shane, I am using a Mac. I wondered if it was a pc version? 😀
The files are supposed to be cross platform, but sometimes they just don’t work.
