mark up
hi all been asked about supplying following
10 3metre x 1metre 2mm foam boards flood coated with brushed aluminum vinyl
costed the vinyl at £373 inc
the boards £150 inc
the vinyl to go on top approx £250 (includes mark up) tape etc
the boards and aluminum not sure what to charge mark up and how long it should take to do
sorry if i have posted in wrong forum any help or guidance appreciated
haven’t done anything this big so cheers

Dex, Why not supply the real thing? brushed ali sheet 2440 x 1220 is about £100 a sheet It does come in bigger sheets, so I recon for £500 the customer could have the real thing?

hi peter just lost the post i typed out so here goes again
seeminly it has to be flexible i think it is curved both ways on site
not sure if aluminum will spring back if you know what i mean
but i will put it to them tommorow

2mm alucolour or dibond comes is brushed aluminium form. very light too… or leboard 8×4 2mm is about £40 from europoint display

I was actually thinking along the same lines as rob, but 1mm brushed ali sheet is available, cant put my hands on the details just now, but if you are interested, I will find out tomorrow, Can also be got in stainless steel, its used in the catering and kitchen trade, for laminating worktops etc.

Brushed aluminium 3mm Alucolour is around the ton mark for a 10’*5′ sheet from Europoint if that helps.

here we are again on this
went to see the job in question the ali panels are wrapped around posts so
it has to be 2mm foamboard covered in brushed aluminum vinyl which i got from dorotape the only company who could do it over 1metre wide its actually 1250 will post a picture of the job in show us your stuff so you can see whats involved
we have to take down the old stuff the stuff on at the Minuit looks like an acrylic panel 2mm
my idea is to flood coat the panels in situ but leave an overlap both sides
i am assuming when i wrap it around the columns it will need this bleed
then fit to the columns and trim any excess
the ones fitted are stuck approx 1metre space up the column horizontally and vertically on the edges with double sided tape the columns
are boxed aluminum construction
would this be the best way of fitting also what would be the best tape to use don’t want it springing out after we have gone any help appreciated

hi all went to start this job on Tuesday last week with an extra pair of hands we hoped a full day after pulling Down the old panels they were fitted with double sided foam tape 👿 try cleaning that stuff off
originally had quoted on the foambords being covered in the brushed Ali dry by another company but this was rejected bad move i should have insisted but a lesson learned
we flood coated wet the whole lot 11 panels 3 metre *1 metre including power cut and storms etc
and had to leave to dry overnight
returned in the morning still not dry it had been over fifteen hours rang the guys at dorotape and they were really helpfull confident it would dry
but could not say when i agreed and with the customers consent we left till this morning !.
dorotape sent me the same quantity of vinyl as a contingency plan if it wasn’t dry this morning rip it all of and have it applied dry and off we go as exhibitions starts Wednesday on a sale or return basis cheers guys went in this morning dry as a Mexicans tonsils 🙂 we fitted panels and text had to fit Ali angle to the edges as nothing would stick to tape residue left tried to clean off for 5 hours by the way any ideas on that would be help full in the future
job finished and customer happy
but if we had went with original quote we would have had a load less hassle hopefully wont haggle with extras on the bill
wil post some pics when i can
lessons learnt on this one be firm with quotes worked hard on this one
dont be swayed by customer trying to chip away at quote
i could have done three or four vans at least in the same time but invaluable experiance all the same 🙁

lol, i’m still well at the stage where i’m doing jobs more for the general experience than the money, though obviously the money is useful !
