I have started using the 751 instead of my usual 9800 MacTac, must admit so far it is better & £5 per roll cheaper, certainly cannot complain at that Peter.
Have you made him an offer Peter for that Bungalow! or is it a house with the ground floor being below ground as is the huge garage.

Nice work Peter! The 751 cast is nice.

Nice play house …… wish I could say I have the same 😕

Marek is correct about the post counter … each post will show the latest post number …. each persons post does not show a different number. ….. Now I hope Marek and I have made sense??

BTW, Peter, are you going to put a number in that white circle on the hood of the car? Thanks for the info on 751.

Nice job Peter, I have been very impressed with the 751c too.

Your client is clearly wealthy eh, I did a job for a young bloke a few years or so ago that lived in a big house and on acreage, but looked nothing special.

When I got to his garage tho, he had ferraris, and rollers parked neatly in a row. He had just finished ‘restoring’ a roller with mag wheels, red pearl paint, lowered, custom sports exhaust etc. The day I arrived, Rolls Royce had sent him a letter explaining their dislike of what he had done, and asking him to ‘please explain’.

He screwed it up and laughed. I suppose with that much money, I would too. 😕

    Shane,
there are quite a few urban myths surounding Rolls Royces,
they used to have a board in the factory at Crewe listing them all.
I remember the one about the chap whos back axle went, while travelling through Europe, of course rolls flew a mechanic out with a complete axle to fix it. When the chap returned he called the RR dealer to ask for the bill, but of course they denied any knowledge of it!
In the 70s & 80s Hoopers (RR bodybuilders) build all sorts of weird and wonderfull cars for the newly oil wealthy arabs. all with the aproval of RR.
Now this Is a True one.
I collected a burnt out Bentley from Millbrook test track to return to Crewe. The car was totalled and needed to be lifted of my truck with a fork lift. This was at the time when RR and Bentley had just been taken over by BMW and VW respectively, but still in the same factory. Bentley didnt have a lift truck big enough so had to borrow from RR. I had to wait till the factory had closed, before the lift truck arrived, Bentley then got the RR driver to sign a confidentialty document before unloading the car!. I also had to park my truck round the corner from the railway just in case someone from a passing train saw the burnt out car ( the Railway line was derelict though)
Sorry to go on, You just brought back a few memories.

Peter, I know what you say about the urban myths.

About 20 years ago, I had a really good client that owned a fleet of silver shadows. Had a very successful limousine business. When one of the silver shadows broke down in the country, he was instructed by RR to cover the vehicle with a tarp, and to transport the vehicle on the truck at night.

I thought he was telling me a story, but a few years later I spoke to his son, and he confirmed it as true.

Must have cost him a mint for the repair.

    Shane
that may have been the case over there, but twenty years ago the company I worked for did all the recovery work for the main RR Distributors (they arn’t to be called dealers) and body builders in london. If a car broke down, which was not uncommon, it was just transported on a normal recovery truck. We also delivered all cars they cars that were sold in europe. They went under cover, not for secrecy, but so the cars remained clean for the journey.

Conform tape is smooth & lays flat on the backing paper & stays that way for days.
Oracale tape is rough & curls up at the corners therefore you cannot stack up a pile of weeding on top of each other as you can with conform.
Even my 2 girls wont use it unless there is no conform left, then they keep reminding me to order some more.
Last time i was at Dewi’s he was using it and all the corners were curling up & catching on the next layer on the pile. Don’t know if he took my advise to buy conform next time but Caroline & Dewi where *issed off with it as i am.
    L J

    Shane, always use med tack

i think i know what you mean about curling but we dont stack anything. once taped we roll it outward and elastic band around it and thats it. 😕

I find the corners curl very baddly as well.

Scozzie, not sure what conform is either, but you may want to try transferite from Australian Graphic Supplies. They also do R Tape which is very good.

Do you mind if I enquire as to how much the conform is?

I use to use it from Andersons then the last batch curled up so I got Victory Designs equivelent, it is cheaper smoother and hasn’t as yet curled up, but it doesn’t smell too good!

It seems to vary from vinyl corp Dave, i used to pay £65 per log slitting free but more recently it has been £50 / £55 per log. In my opinion it’s worth £85 for the time saving & ease of use.

Dave, just realised does victory’s app tape still have their name printed on centre of cardboard core? We still have a few slit rolls of theirs that they must have slit with worn blades, every time you pull the tape off the roll it tears. I complained at the time & they sent me a few slit rolls f.o.c but they tore as well so haven’t bothered with them since.

Conforming has never been my thing. 😀 😀 😀

I do use the transferite already Shane. Also the transparent for layering. I find the transferite gets a bit seedy on the roll after a few hot spells, maybe thats the cause?
