Bicycle wrapping
Anybody know if it is possible or practical to wrap a bicyke frame
There will be a series of short runs on similar frames
I think it will be supply only
admin please note this is a general querry at this stage and I am not looking to sub contract at this point in time. I just want to know if it is a practical solution so I can get back to a client and let him know what I have found.

regarding wrapping the bike.
cutting to shape on the machine would not work. even if you could it will probably change every tube & then every model.
im guessing your talking mountain bikes.. ? every place you have bit for… lets say… the brakes to be mounted, water bottle etc these will give you problems. but still possible to go round but i think exposing those bits as oppossed wrapping.
if you are wrapping a chrome frame ide say its going to be easier as far as cutting on the frame goes, obviously painted frames may show cut marks in the paints. wrapping the frames woudnt be a problem but were each tube joins it will be hard getting a neat trim round the welded parts.
most difficult pars would have to be the down tube for the seat post, the heads set tube and the tube the cranks go thru, this is because all the tubes come to meet in this area, getting it on in one peice would be difficult.
having said all that, if it was one offs now and again, digital printed and laminated ide say you could offer some custom work but would take practice ide think to get it right.
in my opinion ide try wrapping but stopping the wraps 5mm from welds. would be much easier… or if not stoping there, dont do the complete downtubes etc -
cant see a real problem just a bit fiddly ring me
