Hi all, can anyone point me in the right direction, please.

I remember a little while ago reading a post about manufacturing sign trays out of dybond.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the link??

Any pointers appreciated as we have 3 to make 1x5metres and 2x2metres, as well as mounting/ fixing tips

    Cheers

hi, i have a few pointers for you. start by clamping your dibond to the bench at both ends. Work out the return on your sheet (25mm, 50mm etc) and mark this clearly. set your handheld router so that it cuts in to the dibond slightly slightly more than your panel return. when routing the dibond you should routetr just enough so you can see the aluminium through the rubber. (try a test piece first). when you have all four sides routered take a small chisel and knock out the corner pieces to enable you to fold the corners up. when you have done this use some strong glue to hold the joins together.

On the fixing side i usually screw two pieces of angle to the wall at a slightly smaller distance apart than your panel edges, then slot the panel over the angle and pop some rivets in the top and bottom. If you cant get a rivet gun in the top (due to walls, ceilings etc) then you must fold another return into your top edge( i usually make this about 10mm), then instead of rivets just use screws etc.

I hope this helps as im not the best explainer in the world, perhaps searching for a visual demo would be better. You can always buy the dibond in already folded. Im not sure who does this but i seen an advertisement somewhere.

cheers dave thats very helpful, playing it a bit by ear sorta speak.

I have made a test tray/ sign, routed no probs only issue i have is adhesive?? i have tried fusion 500 from grfityp but it is too brittle and does not bond at all once the panel is moved or flexed.

    Cheers

i usually use an industrial glue called sensol, but try some two pac glue, u can get in any good hardware stoor. you will need a two pac glue gun tho. another option is to use some 3m tape and stick it to a piece of 25mm angle and stick this in your corner
