vehicle graphics: port of larne car wash
Posted by wmcauley on 8 May 2005 at 16:03Hi all
Just finished this van 10 minutes ago. Customer was looking for lots of information, but I talked him into this. White on black & straight to the point. Any vans I have done up till now I have more or less just used the panels. But after seeing one of roberts demos using a heat gun & soft cloth, I decided to work into the recesses & this is the finished result.Wilbert.

I was trying to work out why it looks so different, It’s because the van is black, very unusual for nowadays.

L J I think black is now becoming the white van we have done 5 and a trailer inthe last week or so they must be hellish to be in in the hot weather (if we get any)

i think the van looks great mate, well done persuading the customer to use less for more impact. works a treat.
regarding heating into recesses…
again, well done. i must add though, some vinyls arent just as good as others with this sort of thing. i dont mean stretch as they will all do this, what i mean is shrinking and pulling back out recess over time.
always be sure to “bake” the areas were recesses are. im sure you will be fine though, the recesses on those vans arent too deep.
(dont atempt a printer or old shape transit though) 😉thanks for taking the tim to post your work 😀

Great design, very eye-catching, and I really like it.
I always try and encourage customers to go for a “less is more” design…it can make much more of an impact!Ali

Lynn, to be honest this is the 1st black van i have seen. About 3 years ago i lettered an oldish Transit that had just been resprayed from white to black about 3 weeks previous, started lettering it & then realised paint was coming off in sheets with the masking tape.
Phoned him up & he told me he had just payed £250 for the respray! So not surprising it came off, should have had a 1 in front of the price at least.
