Just cut sweet as a nut for me!
Try this version, i re-welded it first and it was fine.
😉
Just realised, cant upload in this section.
Post yr e-mail and i’ll send you this one!

I’m not sure what program you are using, but in Illustrator if you go to “Outline” (ctrl + Y) you can see that there are actually lines in the design. You will want to go in and edit those. I would offer to do it for you, but I have a logo design I have to get done by Monday and tomorrow is Mothers’ Day here in the States so I need to get it done. If it’s still here on Monday I’ll have a go for you.

Someone had outlined it already and posted it.. I think it was Phil??? i may be wrong, the problem with that file is it has a double layer, try removing that layer then re-cut, i have done it but, try first, it will give you some idea of what to look out for in future.
If still unable i will post the fileSimon
-
just loaded the file you posted in corel draw when i viewed in outline you can definitely see some sort of tiled effect does not explain how it will cut sometimes ok and then not
when i opened it straight up it sent my pc haywire and locked up a.i
i would run virus check etc
i opened it up in corel and even welding to another section it still didnt get rid of the extra cut line i will have another go after the celebrity wrestling! 😛
cheers dex -
I the time it took me to reply, there has been three replies… must take typing lessons lol

when we first started out we used to cut straight from our design package, we found that sometimes especially with complex images we would get a cut line through the image ….. sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldnt. But once we started using our rip we had no more problems and not had an unwanted cut line since 😀
Just thought I would mention this as it might be your problem??
😀

I was thinking the same thing Simon/L.J. Well at least there is an abundance of help, better than no one answering. 😀

the link you have put up, 1 is .eps the other .ai.
the eps is in 5 sections that would need to be welded.
the .ai file is OK except the oblong below the pointy bit at the bottom edge of the point of tail. just needs tiding up. in other words 99% perfect, shouldn’t give you any probs. would only take 10 Min’s work on the .ai file

hi before i continue can i just thanks for all the replies this one has driven me up the wall the customer wanted it for his car i told him sorry today and sold him some squigly design instead but i hate giveing up on this so can you bear with me
1, how do see the lines that shouldntbe there when i use corel 11 it looks fine even in wire cut
2, ive welded the image file in eps in my cutter program called artcut i even used flexisign 7.5 today that failed to
3, tidying up is there some sort of help file to get me started on this
4,ive took it in to corel and exported the image and the wire frame aseps then imported to artcut and flexisign
out of 7 cuts i got 1 at 80 cm long to work but when i tried to do it a second time it failed5, cokka wat did u use to cut it and how big also email addy is (mod-edit)
6,lj i didnt design it mate it was here in the swaps section a few weeks ago
7, simon c how do u remove a layer in corel ?
8,carrie wat is this rip thing seen somet about it when i was looking at printers but not heard it on cutters were do i get one and wat does it do
9,lj the eps i posted mate no ai
eps was welded yet then u say i have 5 sections not sure howu now this or wat it means really want to learn if ya have time to helpand i know these may seem simple questions but take it easy with me my brains a bit slower than most

not really sure why you are having problems with this once you have welded it together. It should work.
One thing to remember when exporting any file, is that if it is exported as an ai, if the file is too complex, some programs will ‘cut it up’ to get the job done. Sign Wizard will do this from my experience.
The fact that it cuts a 1 metre one OK, and nothing larger leads me to think it may be a setup within your program or cutter. Have you checked that you have not got ‘panelling’ turned on? forgive me if it sounds simplistic, but sometimes the simple answers work….
Also, I’d convert all beziers to arcs. Sometime enlarging a file that has beziers, will thro a spike in the graphic, resulting in a cut tine.
sorry I can not be of more help but it strikes me as a setup/software problem more than the file itself.

firstly i would advise you to stop using Coral & art cut & just concentrate on learning flexi 7, Flexi can do more than the other two put together, you just have to learn by practice. If you look at “on line shop” on home page there are two Cd’s you can buy for flexi which are a must even for me who thought i new nearly everything about flexi. I was amazed at these CD.s they are full of demo videos that take you through step by step & take approx 4 hours viewing.
Trust me, I’m a doctor.

Dr L Jgood advice mate. I use sign wizard myself, and I can get it to do more than corel in less time – any day of the week.
Having said that, Corel has its place in a sign shop. But as you say, if you have a professional sign package, it would be your best option to get your head around it sooner rather than later, and you will have less time worrying how to use it, and more time to let those creative juices start flowing….
…as far as the Dr bit goes….hhmmm not sure on that one 😳

didnt follow that bit sorry were are bexxiers and how do u convert themas for pannelling sorted that last week so just got the one pannel now

like i said buy the Cd’s then all will be explained

in corel, it is called ‘convert to curves’, from memory
cheers

Sorry, bit misleading.. what i should have said was theres an image on top of an image. when in wire frame mode you can see slightly thicker lines, this is where the image is doubled, ungroup image then try deleteing it should leave the other image. (don’t forget once ungrouped click the cursor off the image onto the page background deselecting the image then click back on the ungrouped image, you should find only section are now selected)

Welded it in Signlab and Exported it to a Signpal program that i use to cut as my plotter doesnt like much else.
It was about 560mm x 380mm as it cut it along the width of 610mm vinyl.
What plotter have you got and what software are you driving it with??
File on its way.
😛

My god Simon, what are you doing up at 5 am on a Sunday morning, or haven’t you been to bed yet?
L J -
ive a creation p cut 610

Lol L J, i’ve got a cold, Went to bed at 12am, the baby started crying at 3am, i got up and made him a bottle, then couldn’t get back to sleep 🙄 ended up going to bed at 6am..

SimonSimon, I think you would make someone a good wife one day :lol1:
Hope baby was only hungry & not caught your cold or you will be up tonight as well?
been there, done that, got the teeshirt
L J -
sorry onestop what’s your 1st name?
If i was you i would install the driver for creation p cut 610 (who makes it) into flexi & then use flexi only till you are conversant with it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with dragon 3 it should cut perfectly.
L J -
flexi cuts with our cutter
creation pcut is all i know there chinese i think
gonna use this flexi its not as daunting as i first thought cheersdragon 3 ive imported itto flexi and i came up with lines like it was cut in sections but i welded it and now there gone so hope it works will give it a go shortly
thanks for all your help and fingers crossed i wont need to trouble u again -
I have just imported dragon 3, it’s perfect. Cannot understand where your lines are coming from, unless your cutter is paneling it because of the settings?
L J -
LJ, I also imported dragon 3 with no problems into Flexi 7.5? Not sure where he’s going wrong.
One stop, did the lines show up as soon as you imported it or only when you went to cut it? Did you import the file straight form downloading it from the boards or did you take it into another software program first and then into flexi? -
Try this one.. “Japanese Dragon simon” it’s in corel draw format
Simon
-
try this one straight into flexi Dragon4
i will upload on other thread.L J
-
simon c cheers but thats the one with 5 legs
ive done a few more attempts today turning out costly lol
ok first one cut head then front paw then went and drew a straightline down the vinyl
second 1 cut the entire body perfect except a line near tail cutting back through the top of the boidyslightly
then the cutting finneshed and it missed out the head all to getherthe first was dragon 3 that i did through flexisign
the second was dragon 3 wich i did through flexisign and welded it -
Here’s a little tip until you get this sorted
Get a roll of wallpaper lining paper (about £1.50) and relace your knife with the pen.
At least you wont be wasting vinyl
Cheers

Sorry Mate didn’t notice, have altered and posted new one
Simon

Are you running serial or parallel interface to the cutter, some times if you run parallel lpt1 set to ECP you can get unwanted lines , ECP is too fast and over runs the cutters buffer and gives unwanted lines usually on more complicated jobs, change to standard in the bios of the computer, and if your running serial check your PC com port settings and cable are correct for your cutters recomended settings.

Who’s a clever girl then Jem!!! What are you doing,…… trying to show the rest of us up, or should i say successfully showing us all up, well done girl 😀
Ian: That is a tip that we all learn wayyyyy back in the beginning, so why had i forgotten it ?? (my wife has just said “old age”).
L J -
Erm…………. that was Jeff, my other much cleverer half…………sorry Im the thick one 😀
-
Jem, lynn and I had a similar problem with id, you really must get jeff to register in his own name!
Btw I dont think jeffs answer will solve the problem, Hope it does, I have been following this thread but somehow its got into several, and become a bit incoherant.
Peter -
ar well, at least you have owned up to it, that’s more than my wife would have done, she would have basked in the glory for a while & then owned up to it tomorrow.
L J -
Sorry I forgot to sign out before I tried to help,
Poor guy and his dragon, with all the help you guys have given, he still has had no luck, just thought maybe it was a hardware fault, it has cut ok for a few people, I’ve seen many cutters go mad with the wrong port settings and cables.
yes the thread is going a bit wobbly. 🙂

from what i can gather onestops other work cuts OK, so why this dam dragon!!
L J -
I was going to suggest mm artwork LJ, but several have modified it to no avail, Im stuck for an answer, except to sub it out and move on
Peter -
yes, Peter it makes you wonder what’s going on doesn’t it.
onestop hasn’t answered yet so i think he’s busy drawing dragons on wallpaper lining!
L J -
hi
its a creation pcut 610 24 inch cutter on well its a serial end at the computer and a parrelel end at cutter
serial settings will check but basically 8 months ago i just plugged in loaded software and started cutting never did owt with settingsall other work is ok except it drags the vinyl accross on big jobs now sorted thanks to robert and a set square .
-
me again bet your all sick of me
today we cut and drew several more of these bloody dragons none worked so tried 2 other types one failed and 1 worked
the 1 worked was the same as the one weve been trying to do except its the inners as i call it this one is no use to us as has no lines holding it together just the blocks like u filled in the colour of the other dragon .if thast makes sence
how ever with this one working i really dont understand why the others dont
would a new or different type of cutter be any different
lj can u email me the flexisign image u mentioned to loadsofstikas@aol.com got to get this sorted by thursday got a car coming in for them
never thought they would be this hard to do
does any one have any other dragons that may work the customer might opt for them in stead
-
thanks
i really appreciate all the time you and the rest of this board have put in on this -
Over the years i have had many problems to sought out as i am sure many others have, BUT there was no one to turn to for help in those days, you had to sought it out yourself or spend a fortune on phone calls to suppliers who weren’t that interested once they had your money.
Thank god for Rob & all his hard work. 😀
