Anything else i might need for sub printing?

i have just invested in 3 presses and a c86 epson and sub ink.got tshirts mugs and plates.
What sort of paper do i need for sub printing?do i need any software packages?any other bits that i might need to make it easier?

well ive just started mugs with the same printer im useing lyson sublimatoon paper heat tape mite be an idea to ,ull need profiles for ur ink and printer
software well corel drawor photo shop ect

Epson photo paper does a really good job with sublimation printing

Faded Images?

Does the paper print look ok before you press it? Is there a lot of ink or little ink on the paper?

Are you taping the graphic in place on the mug? (It may move when you press it, this creates a ghost image as the image sublimates)

Is the temperature right and are you pressing for the correct time?

To be honest I only have experience of subli print on polyesters material but I know simular problems happen with ceramics.

yes its taped to mug first time and pressure and heat according to bloke we got stuff from 180 c and 3 mins
ink on paper well useingthe profile given the pic comes out faded but prints perfect
useing the no colour alterations setting it comes out nice vibrant colours but has smudges on as if theres to much ink on paper

sorry what is the profiles for the ink?
do i need photoshop and corel draw or do you need just 1?What sort of paper isit sublimation paper?

Hi profiles as in icc profiles the company you purchase your sublimation ink should supply you with these if you dont have the right icc profiles your images can look faded reds can go pink ect ect. As for software i personally use coreldraw any version will do it has its own measurement guide so you know what size to do the graphic, The company who supply you the mugs should do a template for all the mugs they stock, if you email me i would send you a complete guide on sublimation also i will supply you with templates for the most common mugs used in the business.

Hi again,

If you look at the paper after you have pressed it there may be quite a bit of ink left behind on the paper that has not sublimated.

Pressing it at a higher temperature such as 195 might get a better result

If that doesnt work increase the pressing time.

Only change one thing at a time though and eventually you will get close to what you expect.

You are printing to the coated side of the paper?
if you’re not then this is what will happen, it will retain the ink instead of transfering it, smudges are the ink hasn’t dried on the transfer paper, we always print the day before, press the day after, this way the ink will have dried fully 😉

I print onto mugs using sublimation inks and I do it at 200 degrees for 4 minutes and my colours are great.
