can anyone help with design for a smart car please?
Posted by Nathan on 25 March 2005 at 17:40Hopefully going to be put some advertising on my smart car next week and think I’m going to go with the layout below.
Any constructive comments welcome.
P.S. This will be my first go at applying vinyl to a vehicle.

Looks nice, simple, clean, readable.
If you want just opinions that’s it!
If you want to see some “smart” ideas from the folks then it would be good to post a AI or CDR file soo we can play a bit with it.
Edit: My humble opinion when doing your own vans or signs you should always try to set the standards a bit higher then you’re normally asked by the customers, this way they will come to get a job just like yours if you show them a basic design they might think you can’t do better than that, if you did that for yourself would you can be able to do better for me? They might ask.
What kind of stuff do you think anyone could ask this guy?

as has been said, its nice clean and sharp… well done!
my opinion on how it comes over to me is that this is a sales car, driven by… well a sales, man for a sign firm. which is perfectly fine & does come over professional, but…. your just starting out, your trying to let folk know you exist now… i dont mean go all yucky and over the top, i just mean, using the artwork you have there… re-jig it a bit and let the overall appearance be a bit more memorable. this could be pretty simple to do, using the logo alone. keep things as they are but use a much larger logo wrapping from one quarter round onto back, same on bonnet wrapping down onto wheel arch etc just some thoughts…
good luck anyway mate, no matter what i am sure it will look great. 😛

Thanks for the comments, I’m just sorting out the cdr file sizes so I can upload them asap.

Looking good Nathan, you seem to be moving along pretty fast now you’ve got the plotter etc. 😀
If you need a hand with fitting or anything, you know where I am 😀 You’ll have to make the brews though, I’ve started to fear the kettle 😮 It’s humming! 🙄 😮
Cheers, Dewi

Might take you up on that Dewi as I really like Robert’s idea but as this is my first fit I don’t feel totally confident doing a part wrap. Saying that if I drink as much coffee as I did last time I’ll have it done in 2 minutes.
How would I go about designing a part wrap, would it be easier using a template from the vehicle library?
Thanks

I agree with Robert……WRAP IT!!!!!! Smart cars always grab attention in standard form. with a wrap they are just one big (or small) mobile ad. go Nathan……you know you want to. 😉

It’s only a couple of yards of vinyl to wrap it anyways. 😉

I think i’m responsible for you to post the cdr files, just to let us give you some ideas, soo it wouldn’t be fair if i didn’t give you my point of view about it, the only problem is i’m at home till tuesday and i don’t have cdr v12 here soo if you or someone can plz e-mail me the files in v11 or older version, plz.
Of course if someone can send me the vector template of the smart car that would be just great!!Thx in advance.

Edit: oops forgot the e-mail!!! 😳

got to agree with Rob and the other guys these smarts scream ‘WRAP ME’
they look so effective wrapped you’ll get potential customers wanting to talk to you just out of curiosity of how you did it.edit-admin
