Help with info on roland pc50 and pnc5000
roland pc50 and roland pnc5000 printer/cutters info needed…can you still get the cartridges for these machines or do you have to acquire refills ? anyone know of a firm who can supply consumables for these machines too ? any info and or advice would be extremely helpfull……..dave

Presumably PrintOne would be able to supply you with refills for the carts, but I’m unsure whether they sell the consumables 😕 Best bet would be to ring Dave Standen on Monday, see what he can do for you, as I can’t find the consumables on the web anywhere else? 🙄

thanx dewi for the info on ribbons…. have you any other info on these machines ? price ? usability ect ect i have been offered a pc50 and dont know much about them…….

Carts and ribbons getting harder to find , it’s very slow , heads almost impossible to find these days. I might be wrong but I think you can use the PC 60/600 ribbons (might have to change the core?)
I wouldnt really bother with the machine if its not up to snuff. -
they claim its all up to scratch!!! i have heard though that these machines produce some banding and ive heard to remedy this you can warm the vinyl before feeding it in the machine.. not sure how true this is.. i would only really need to print and cut safety type stickers/signs with it..not sure whether a laser printer and a cutter with an opus system would be better for my needs any help would be welcome, but what i really need to know is what kind of price that these (pc50 pnc 5000) usually go for………………………………………………….

also im lucky enough to live within 10-20 mins of the NEC so if anyone needs info on routes, b&bs hotels ect ect just ask….. :lol1:

All I can do is give you the benefit of my advice and experience with these printers.
The only price I would pay for one is free. We have a few that act as door stoppers round here (and they actually are in working order)Seriously , leave it alone , it bands , it prints ONLY teeny decals using spots with any success , it is shocking with cmyk and the cost to print is horrendous. It needs to be run in an almost clean room environment. The ONLY thing I would even consider it for is metallic resin printing on dark substrates and those should not be bigger than a few inches square.
You would do a lot better with a used PC60/600 -

I know the machine is ancient but it has done a very good job for our company printing all our shop labels. Alternatively, does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable upgrade which doesn’t break the bank!! 😕

I saw a PC50 sell on Ebay recently for more than £1000.
That’s an expensive doorstop!!!

Can’t get replacement print heads from Roland now!! Would not recommend buying one!
