  • Identifying a vehicle decal

Posted by Andrew Bennett on 15 February 2005 at 23:40

(I don’t know if this is the right group so I hope rob will move it if it is in the wrong place)

The Land Rover stable of vehicles had a decal on the bonnet which suprisingly enough says Land Rover.
I am tring to identify which font this is together with which vinyl the, colour matching and supplier.

I am trying to identify these points as I want to produce a vehicle graphic which matches the manufacturors decal so as to “fit in” with the original.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

    andy,
Landrover guard their logo like easyjet, One of our customers almost got closed down because he used something similar, the font is probably their own, if it is a font, and will be copyright.
Easy enough to vectorise and get near the colour, but be careful.

I made a lot of domed badges for Land Rover years ago. The text is not a standard font and the colour (green) was screen printed to get exact colour match. If you are trying to match an existing badge I would suggest putting a pantone swatch next to it to match the colour and scanning the logo to get perfect match on the text.

As for the unauthorised reproduction of their logo…I dunno.

    Thanks guys.
I am not trying to copy any logos, I am hoping to match colour and size for aditional graphics that land rover do not produce 😀

Is it the oval logo or the text across the front that you are trying to reproduce? If it is the text can you just trace it and vectorise? As for the oval, get a brochure and scan it.
