  • How can I …..

Posted by Shane Drew on 12 February 2005 at 10:27

I have a client that has sent a word doc file with japanese text, and I need to convert it to curves for importing into corel. It has to be overlaid onto a picture

    Anyone got any clues?

I can cut and past, but it comes across all sorts of strange graphics. Been on this for hours and all that is happening is that I am losing vast amounts of hair 😥

    any help would be appreciated

    cheers

Not the most economic way, but you could screengrab the Word document, then trace the resulting bitmap in CorelDRAW 😕 By the time you’ve sorted out the some way of transporting the text, this may be the quickest way in the long run depending on the amount of text.

    Thanks Steve. Very interesting.

From what I have discovered, the japanese text only works within a microsoft product. That explains why it will not work in corel.

May finish up printing it and then scanning it back in 😥

I only fear that if I don’t do it right, I could end up saying something in Japanese that is not what is intended. 🙄

Thanks for the link steve. I appreciate your time.

    Dewi, what a good idea!

It is an A4 page worth, so a screen dump may be the best option.

Talk about thinking outside the square 😮

Thanks buddy, the combined talents here helps me out again.

    Cheers

we did some chinese lettering a while back and i got the client to setup a pdf from word, they loaded pdf software as a printer when you go to print it gives you an option to print to file with text converted to curves, hey presto once a pdf ready to import into corel as a vector, worked for us but the customer was a bit clued up on downloading a PDF driver, worth a shot

    Thanks Adrian.

    Another good idea!

I did that with chinese myself a few years back. Not sure how I did it now but I’ll give it a go too.

Thanks for everyones help to date.

My wife has just checked my scalp and she tells me I am only hours from being bald if I don’t resolve this problem soon 😥
