vehicle graphics: dunoon of scotland
Posted by Phill Fenton on 8 January 2005 at 17:15We did this van yesterday. When I came into work this morning, I wasn’t thinking about this job and was startled when out of the corner of my eye I spotted the bloke in the Kilt standing inside our unit beside the van.
Rob’s company “Fastsigns” very kindly printed the images for me 😀

Just out of curiosity. In your post title there’s 1 ‘n’ in Dunoon but on the van there’s 2 (Dunnoon)
Cheers

Well spotted Jim – I’ve spelt it wrong in the title (but right on the van)…….at least I think so 😳
Rob the images were brilliant. Very sharp with bright colours even up very close.

Nice lookin van Phil……..
did you laminate/varnish the digital image?
what material do you prefer for the digital work……Cheers
Andrew

Thanks Andrew.
The print was finished off with a clear laminate. As mentioned earlier this was done by Robs company (Fastsigns) – with Andrew (vectorwise) doing the actual printing on their Grenadier. Rob or Andrew can best advise on the material to use for this sort of print.
Whenever I personaly print anything for a van (I use a PC600) I print on Oracal 751 and laminate with clear Oracal 751. In this instance the print was too big for the PC600 – and the colorcams high running costs ruled it out for a print of this size. Not only that- but the resulting print was far superior than could have been achieved with the PC600

Thanks for the mention Phil.
I used MD5 white to print the graphics and coated with clear using laminator. The image looked really crisp, there was also the smaller image on rear that also came out really good.
-
Yeah s’good that Phill. Very striking.
How gay does that geezer in the kilt look though? (I don’t mean because he’s wearing a skirt, just the pose.)
-
Im sure I see one of that firms vans outside a kilt shop in the city centre of
Carisle when i was up there chalkingWhat i noticed was the fact it was hand painted ,must have been an old one
