can i get away with any copyright issues using this logo?
Posted by -steve on 18 November 2004 at 00:04Since we’re in the city centre, and make/sell signs, i was wondering if we’re infringing copyright? 😛
what do you think? too cheesy (chat.)
stevie
p.s-sorry for the poor quality image

Hey Stevie,
My tuppence worth…
Not cheesy so much as just not great. Could you not work with some distinctive landmarks in your city centre, thus totally bypassing the question of copyright, and denoting something relevent to your town? What you have put forward also will date very quickly, possibly already has done so. I would go with something else…

copyright issues don’t spring to mind with me!! 😀 but i’m not in glasgow!! 😛 first impressions too me look like a bonefire night attraction advertisment!! 😮 only because it’s black, and your eye’s are waiting on something else, that’s been seen before!! 😀
layout fine except ‘in the’ i would line up to the end of signs!! 😛

I’ll tell you what is an excellent logo based on a town silhouette: http://www.letterhead.com

Phew!! That was me being restrained with my opinions!!

Other than the cityscape looking as if it was drawn with an Etch-A-Sketch,
I kinda like it.
BUT
When I was in Scotland, I sure as heck did NOT see any skyscrapers!
I would go for a more “old-style” city feel.
Think of the old buildings in Edinburgh for example.
The Letterville logo was a combined effort by many friends.
Maybe as pals we can come up with something nice?

Is it just me, or is that the cityscape from Fraiser? 😕
Humble opinion, great name, shame about the graphic… sorry to be so blunt 🙁 Maybe as others have said, another skyline may work, but I think you’d need to integrate the company name more into it, rather than having it floating above the city.
Marketing campaign-wise though, classic one is come up with a great logo, get a photograph of one of those busy roads with the billboards on it and place your mark onto the billboard 😀 I reckon that would be cool 😀
Cheers, Dewi

I don’t think i would use it mate. cheesy? maybe not! but lacks in originality. 😕 and at the end of the day we are supposed to be designing and image for our customers?
based on what you have, and if you really want to use it. why not include the armadillo, the Kingston bridge, the tower at ssecc, science centre, etc etc “the gorbals” 😮 :lol1: at least it maybe identified as Glasgow and still connect with the theme you have chosen? so would be humorous if anything? personaly, ide dig deeper, go for something outside the box! 😉

Yes but you’re still a cutie!
