Only the later versions of PS do both vector and Raster, I thnk PS7 , PS elements and CS. You can export or save as an EPS.

I have Photoshop v7. Just tried saving as ‘Photoshop.eps’ on my Mac, e-mailed to my PC. Cutting program recognised it and cut it. Saved it with background though, maybe needs to be on transparent background in Photoshop.

Other way is to send .jpeg to Vectorwise.

    thanks folks,

so could you open a jpeg in photoshop and export it as eps and thus vectorise it?
or have you got to start with a .ps?

Just opened a .jpeg, saved as photoshop eps and sent to cutting software. I couldn’t open this one – file format not supported. Maybe I’m not doing that one right. Could be too much information/colours etc. The first one I tried was a photoshop file that I converted.

Do you have Corel Draw? You might be able to do what you want in Corel Tace…

I’ve just Imported a .pdf into Corel Draw, Then Converted to Bitmap. Maybe you can then tidy up the piece you want, then Trace in Corel Trace…Best I can come up with on a friday afternoon – it’s getting dark and my brains slowing down…..

    Hope This helps

If you want to e-mail me the .pdf with a few instructions of what you want, I could see if I can open it. Can’t promise anything, but two heads are better than one.

Why not export paths to illustrator and import into Corel ?

If you are having problems with corel crashing, try rebooting. If that doesn’t help you may have to re-install. I’ve had this happen a few times and coudn’t get it to work without re-installing.

    dtg:
when corel(9) imports pdf-s, you can choose the import filter:
    – PDF Placeable Enhanced PDF Page – this makes a rasterized, low res. graphic
    – PDF Adobe Portable Document Data – use this filter, if you want vector graphics (only if the pdf contains the logo in vector format)

    (?) (?) (?)

Other question: can Photoshop 7 import illustrator files (or eps, etc) as a clipping path or as a vector shape?
