Shop Sign: Fun Time Toys
Posted by Bill Dewison on 4 November 2004 at 10:41And thats no joke! I started this job before we all met up at SignUK which makes this officially my longest job yet! 😕 Alot of the problems were because of the customers lease arrangements, but there was a lot of wrangling with the toy companies as we had to ask permission to use each image… sounds simple, but had we made a mistake with the Barbie image for instance, they would probably have objected to the sign 😮
Thank you to Robert and Andrew for all your help with the images on these as well, very much appreciated 😀
Cheers, Dewi

Good stuff Dew. The one with the yellow background is very eyecatching.
Where the bleedin’ ell have you been?

Very nice Dewi, very colourful.
Are they both digitally printed, or part printed and cut vinyl ?

Up a ladder 😉 Just been busy with shop work and my evenings & weekends I’m out fitting all the time. I’m still doing alot of window graphics which is taking up alot of my time, but jobs like the toy shop have been eating into my time like a beaver chews through wood! 😕 It took almost 6 hours to do the white sign for the toy shop and that was just the fitting. We had to remove all the glass, all the outward opening windows, attach ply and batoning to the window frame, seal it all with masticy stuff then attach the sign. And I had to eat a McDonalds Happy Meal as there was nowhere else to get food 😥 The things I do for a sign job 😕
Have I missed much then?
Cheers, Dewi

What fun-looking signs!
Just in time for the Christmas shopping rush too!
It IS important to get permission to use licenced images, as you did.
Looks like this was worth the wait.
BTW, I LOVE Happy Meals!
All the taste of McDs but hopefully not as many calories as a Big Mac Meal.
Glad to see ya back in town, kid.
Love….Jill -

They’re a mixture between cut vinyl and digital prints. The Spider-man is cut vinyl as is all the lettering, but Mr Pooh, Barbie and the little rabbity thing are all printed.
Thank you for the compliments though, the shop owner was extremely pleased with it as he said its exactly what he’d imagined.
I’ve had to read through a few backposts to understand the D.E.A. 😳 Does this mean I get to wear a uniform and carry a nightstick now? 😀
I love the new avatar by the way Carrie, very fetching 😉Cheers, Dewi

You can have a uniform like Lee’s: ….. Dewi its screaming your name!!!!! 😉 :lol1: That way if we arrive on anyones doorstep requesting avatars … one look at you and how could they say no??? 😛
Glad you like the new pic, planning to do an Xmassy (carrie word) one for Xmas was going to do one especially for halloween but caught up with other things and didnt get chance.

Tempting…. but no 😮 I’ve only got a limited supply of talc powder as it is, and I don’t favour the grease option! 😳 I was thinking more of something in black, maybe some gold buttons and a fashionable cap with tassles?!? 😀
I’m quite tempted to keep my avatar for ever, it sums me up all in a tidy animated graphic 😀
Cheers, Dewi
