Can anyone suggest a method of cutting a panatrim frame?
Posted by popcornpro on 4 November 2004 at 10:38Can anyone suggest a method of cutting a panatrim frame without the drudgery of using a hacksaw. I have circular saw but can;t find an aluminium blade with 190mm dia & 30mm bore.
Any ideas?
I need this urgently.

I used to pay to have mine cut by the supplier, at £20 a time. I then went
to my local D.I.Y store and bought a chop saw for £29.99.(it comes with a blade for timber) I normally cut about 8 full frames(8 cuts each frame) by then the blade has normally had it, although it is still suitable for timber,You can buy new blades for about £20 so i find this the cheapest
option. obviously dont forget the safety glasses!! -
buy yourself a good chop saw. forget cutting with hacksaw or the like…
buy a good make, complete with gards, safety clamps etc (dont budget on these things, you will loss a finger or an eye.)
a good metal cutting blade will cost you from £50-£90 but will last you ages/years even if your not cutting every day. always treat your chop saw with care. they can mitre at every other angle as well as the basics.
good accurate cuts means good joins and a better finished sign.
keep your blade waxed & keep the machine in one place. constant banging about loosens brackets joints which lead to inacurate cuts. -
thanks for your feedback… I will have a look at a chop saw.
I’ve been trying all day to find an aluminium blade for our circular with no luck.
