I have been looking through some of the logo’s and designs on this forum and they are fantastic.

What programmes do you use to design these ?

I am trying to create some wavey text and cant even manage that with the software i have.

Any quick tips on how to do text effects would be very appreciated,

i currently only have artcut sign software which is very basic and also corel draw 12 which i have never used before and cannot find how to make nice fancy text

    thank you

We have corel 12, you really do need to just play with it to see what you can achieve.

For text effects; one way for a wave effect text:

    write your text
use the freehand tool, draw a wavy line
    select your text again
click the “Text” tab at the top
    select “Fit text to path”
    click on the wavy line.

you can also envelope the text, the envelope tool is in the drop down menu “Effects”

sorry if I havent explained very well, Im rushing, hopefully others may help also or I might be able to add more later?

    Carrie 😀

edit: Oooh and it is worthwhile if you have no idea about corel to use the corel tutor, its under the help tab at the top or on the opening page when you first start up, have a play.

Like Carrie & Stephen, I use CorelDRAW (Cue the obligatory mentions of birthday cards 😉 ) but I prefer the older versions, so I’m currently using version 9.

As Carrie has said, its an easy package to learn, just a case of playing around with the different features. An alternative way of achieving what you’re after is to create an eclipse, convert it to curves and then wiggle about with the nodes til you get an interesting shape, then Fit text to path.

    Cheers, Dewi

I use corel 10. As the others have already said, you need to set some time aside and just experiment.

I’d use the online tutorial to get a quick overview too.

    cheers

Widget remember that text does not always need all the bells and whistles.
A good alphabet will speak for itself.
I do use arcs a lot in a heading, but I try not to over-distort.
Remember never to arc an italic or script font,
not use all-caps on a decorative or script font.
    (I just like nagging you)
I have Corel 9 and have gone as far as installing it,
but it baffles me. So I stick to my antiquated GA 6.2
and leave the fancy Corel tricks to Stevo.
    Love….Jill
