  • can anyone help please with coreldrawv9 & EPS Files?

    Posted by 35mhz on 23 October 2004 at 19:39

    Anybody able to assist.

I am haveing problems opening some EPS format files in Coreldraw V9

    Symtoms as follows:

Import file will just create a grey box. Seems to work fine with some files and not others.

Looking at the Corel support pages seems to indicater this as a common problem accross all versions but no single cure.

Strange that some files OK and ALL the files open fine if imported in CorelPaint.

Faint text in Grey box shows file name and Corel V 10 or 11.

Clues please, or work arounds to create vector drawing from the imports.

    Thanks 😥

    Hello 😀

Have you tried just opening instead of importing? We have this trouble sometimes and found doing this worked most of the time.

    Might work, might not???

If you are importing a file into Corel Draw, you have to change the “Files of Type” from “All file formats” to “PS, PRN, EPS – Postscript Interpreted” after you select Import file.

    Hope this helps you out

Yes you must use the postscript interpreted filter – but if you were to print your ‘grey box’ to a postscript device it would probably print as expected – to a non postscript device you would get a grey box or a low resolution preview which displayed. The eps filter only displays the preview and relies on the output device ie postscript printer or imagesetter to interpret the proper image, the ‘postscript interpreted’ filter in Corel makes Corel interpret the image therefor you get an editable drawing. Be aware that this may not be totally accurate especially if text is imported as text and not curves as you may have font issues.
