  • Having a stand at the Birmingham NEC

Posted by Stuart Whitehouse on 13 October 2004 at 13:06

For the last few years I have had a lot of involvement in the motorsport graphics industry and this year I have decided to have a stand at the 2005 Autosport International Show at the NEC.
Would you nice people have any advice as to what kind of set up I should have there and what kind of things I should promote?
I am confident I will take enough money on the weekend to cover costs but I think most of it is what I would’ve got anyway, without a stand via mail order, so therefore I won’t make much ‘extra’ money to make the venture worthwhile.
Has anybody got any tips as to what I should be promoting to gain ‘extra’ work? i.e. number plates, Boy racer graphics etc.?

    Thanks
    Stuart

    Stuart,
In the past I have seen a couple of companys cutting on site at the show.. They were in the oval part rather than the main hall.
I think this may be due to the cost differance.

I do not see the point in paying all that money if you are confident you will get the work anyway..
    Cheers
    Ian

Yes, I will be in the Oval part too.
The reason I want to go is to try and start doing the National Hot Rods and Stock Cars etc.
At the minute I mainly do Autograss Cars. I’ve done a few Rally Cars, Rallycross Cars, F3 cars and GT cars.
I will have quite a few Cars on show that I have done and just want a stand so that people can see my work and then find me on my stand if they like it.
I just wondered if there was something easy and quick I could do just to try to earn a bit of extra Cash on the weekend rather than waiting for the orders to come in, in the months after
On a similar subject, I am racing my own car on the Indoor arena on the Saturday and Sunday where it is dark, with spotlights etc. Can you suggest some vinyl that would look great in these conditions – I was thinking of reflective but then I thought of maybe some ‘glow in the Dark’ vinyl for when I’m not under the lights?

Its not a Formula. I race an Autograss car. Its basically a little single seater buggy with a 300bhp toyota engine in that weighs less than 500kilos. Its something to do in my spare time…………..
