I’ve just fitted this lot this morning and now I’m knackered. All on a south facing shop front in the blistering heat, and on my own. Will someone please give me some sympathy. 😀

    looks very nice!!

like the colour combination, one Q what did you do about the orange over the logos did you get a ‘halo’ effect around them with the orange on top? Or does the orange have cut outs ?

I know what you mean about the halo effect. The orange went on very well over the logos and I couldn’t see any evidence of a halo. Possibly because the orange is quite a bright colour and the halo is not as visible as it can be with a darker colour overlaid. I considered dry application at first but the heat ruled that out so I gave the window a spray of app fluid and it went on a treat.

Thanks Carrie, I feel better already. We all know, of course, that Rob is a Bacardi breezer drinking, soft Scottish Jessie. 🙂 And he probably has to put lemonade in it cos it’s too strong.

Nice work geezer 😀 Fullest sympathies working in todays heat, blimey, you’re either dedicated to your job or as nuts as I am! 😀 Take your pick, both are a sign of insanity 😉

Seriously though, really smart work! As has been said, cool colour combo, and I like the OPEN oval. I know its a bizarre spot to concentrate on, but I did one recently and they’re a pig to line up, especially in hot weather.

Don’t believe the Bud story for a minute Robert! I’ve just had a few cans of the lovely stuff and its nothing like the Bacardi Breezer’s you normally slurp on! Would you like some ice in your cherry, melon-split, lemon flavoured with an umbrella and a big sticker that announces your change over drink? 😉 😉 :lol1: :lol1:

Yes, I noticed that Nik – once it was on the wall, that and the fact that the web address could have been a bit smaller. Never mind. I don’t mind you mentioning it; I wouldn’t have posted it if I didn’t want to hear peoples’ opinions. 🙂

Funny you should mention the oval, Dew. That’s the only bit I didn’t do, it was already there. 😀

There you go then big man, thats why I like it then 😉 😉 Nah, its a cracking job though… keep nipping back to this post.. its inspiring me for a job I’m quoting for atm.

Is there a roller shutter on this shop? Did you fit a signboard over the roller shutter (if there is one) and if so, how did you go about attaching it?

Lots of questions considering my inebriated state! Oh yeah, I’m on holiday btw 😀 😀 😀

    Cheers, Dewi

Thanks Dew. The “refill & save” etc is a Cherwells proframe mounted onto the shutter box. Had to cover the frame in vinyl because they don’t come in orange and I had only 2 days to make & fit. Some of these shutter boxes are made of quite thin steel so I always put plenty of good quality screws in and sometimes a decent quality VHB tape as well just for extra security. You have to be careful not to snag the shutter inside with the screws, but if you keep to the edges of the box there’s no worry of that happening.

Did another one of these a couple of weeks ago and another in Wandsworth on Sunday. Don’t do much else worth posting, so here it is.

Picture aint up to much; it’s from the customer’s website.

Nice job ..I dont envy you with all that overlay on glass… how do you avoid trapped air around the letters… whenever I do overlays on glass the letters always end up with a slight discolouration around the edges..

I think with both of the colours being quite bright, any outline of air is barely noticeable. Looked fine, even up close.

About 3 hours Nik. I must have been on something that day because I fitted the whole lot in about 5 hours. Mind you, I’ve done a few of these now and you get a bit quicker the more you do repeat jobs.

    hi G
great work as ever mate… nice one mate 😉
i think you always manage to create a bit of impact from your shopfronts, keeping the overall look consistant. well done…

noticing the large corner sections etc.. how do you find the new cutter wisth now that you can cut parts like this in one bit?

It’s a Godsend having the larger plotter. Not very visible in this photo is a block of text in the middle of each window. Now I can cut this in one piece, fitting time is massively reduced. The curved corners used to be cut by hand after application, now it’s cut to shape before fitting. Best decision I ever made, spending the extra bit on a 1220mm plotter.

couldnt agree with you more mate.. stacks of text on glass and vehicles are a doddle in one go… curves etc.. i know exactly what you mean.
glad to hear your happy with it.. 😉
