  • Chalkboard Style Typeface/Font?

Posted by Ray on 27 May 2004 at 13:02

Does anyone know the name of the font that is often used by cafe street signs and wall menus that looks as though it was hand written, but in a chalkboard sort of way, if you see what I mean… 🙂

    Thanks

Thanks Liam, but there are none there I am looking for – I went through all the pages. I think what I want is the kind you see on Starbucks menus and the like. Slightly slanted to the right etc. This is the look I need to achieve for a wall mounted coffee menu and and exterior A board.

    Hi Ray.
I just bought a pack of alphabets from this place, most of which are 100% hand-lettered & from the late Greats like Atkinson & Alf Becker.
There is a nice casual script in there that would be perfect for your needs.
I ordered my CD for $99 and got in in just a few days, there is a ton of clipart & stuff on it too.

I think that they also sell individual fonts & they have a free download in there somewhere too.

Ray, have you got an image of a StarBucks menu? Just done a quick web search and I can’t find a one, not even on their website 😕

    Cheers, Dewi

    Hi Jill,

    Does Scrapin’ have an italic?

Is the starbucks one anything like the ones I used on the pub signs I posted in the Cheap Booze thread?

I’ve searched the net back to front, and no-one seems to have posted any internal piccies of StarBucks 😕 Plenty of ppl with “We Love StarBucks” and “We Hate StarBucks”, would’ve thought they would post the odd picture or two of the menu boards 🙁

    Cheers, Dewi

Ray, all you have to do to get an Italic is to slant it to whatever degree in your sign program.
I am sure that it also has an italic. Maybe email Mike @ the fontry & ask.

Hey Dewi, what was the one you used for those boards that read ‘Wines’ and also ‘Any 3 for £5’ – that’s the sort of thing, what is that font called?

Ideally I am looking for a narrower version and maybe an italic of that – but as Jill says I can slant and squash in Flexi.

One Stroke Script may be what you’re after

If this will do, I can add it to the file swapping forum.
