    Hiya friends,

Well, I’m well-chuffed today as my Sibling R1 paint job won Best Paint at the Northampton Speed Freaks ball at the weekend! 🙂 It belongs to my brother and he is over the moon too!

    I need some help now from you SignBoard friends if possible? I have an exhibition in June I need to get hold of one of those cool, curved pop-up stands, Appollo I thinbk they are called? They are the ones at about 2m square. I have a very limited budget but I want a professional-looking stand and wondered if;

    a) Anyone can help me with a stand second-hand and then help supply panels (I can supply artwork)

    b) does anyone fancy a trade-off of some kind?

Please contact me if you can help or can suggest someone who can. This show is very important to me as it’s in my home town of Doncaster and I used to dream of being a part of this custom show when I was a nipper back in the 70’s. The show has been re-born this year and now, I have a small stand there 🙂 it’s a dream come true 4sure and I want to look my best.

    Thanks very much.

    pop up displays:
they come in a 400mm squareby a metre
    wheelie bin affair
they aren’t panels they are prints, they have to be
in order for them to be rolled up and put in the wheelie bin
what you do is stick magnetic(flexible) strips to the pre – determined length prints they also have 2 tangs for location
any exhibition graphics firm will hire you one but insist you
    use them for the printing

I could hire one but what’s the point? I foresee a few shows so I reckon it’s worth investing but they are just so damn expensive!! I need to find a way round that if poss.

(Thanks for the kind words about the paint :))

    Cheers Dewi,

Yep, it’s all freehand, there’s some better pics on http://www.organicimage.com Airbrushed it wish Auto Air colours water-based paint and Iwata HP-BC. Moved into solvent-based more now as the createx is a bit difficult on really small details whereas solvents go mega fine through Iwata.

you want a flat faced pop up banner
    make on your self,
get a local metalworker to bend you up a inch lip in a metre by 400 wide
peice of steel, weld a peice of pipe in the middle to take either an alloy rod or a peice of dowel then get a bit of inch box a metre wide, drill a hole in the middle
and tessa tape the print to the 1 inch faces- put only enough tension in it that you need or it will bust
I made one for 14 pounds at i think it was 3feet by5.5
    is the donny show indoor?

Barney, you make that sound easy but I’m sure it isn’t and I bet it won’t fit in the boot of my car!? yep, the Donny show is indoors.

I have a mate who die, well maybe not die, but certainly lose a limb or two for a helmet like that BeeJ 😀 You’re a cracking airbrush artist! How much do you charge for things like that? (I know its rude to keep asking, but I can’t help it, taking pills and the doc says I’ll be okay by 2025) 😉

    Cheers, Dewi
