Why not? Really.
Edit: Sorry. Bit of a short reply. The first thing that springs to mind that isn’t the most obvious thing: imagine the transport costs for this material compared to say vinyl. If you’ve ever tried to lift a 50 metre master roll of magnetic you will know what I am talking about. I don’t know much about the manufacturing process but it is obviously a pretty substantial material.

Mike.
Its expensive cos of the following:
You have one layer of uncoated brown rubber then magnetic dust runs on top of that (more or less dust depending on internal or exterior useage) then another layer of rubber on top of that. Then you have a 3-5 year white (or coloured) vinyl on top of that and then depending whether you buy good or cheaper material it is usually heat sealed around the edges to stop the vinyl shrinking or delaminating.
You can always tell which material you have been sold – if you can peel the white vinyl off the rubber then its not heat treated therefore you should be paying a lot less. If you cant grab an edge then it means you have the better quality material. So the material has to undergo 5 processes to get you the end result.
Does that answer your question.

I just got some, 2 metres and it weighs about over 2 kilos per metre 😮
heavy stuff,
i peeled the end and the white lifted away.
guess 35 pounds was not that cheap then.
thats without postage. 😮 -
Who supplied this? Sounds a bit naughty. I’ve never thought to do a peel test on the stuff I get.
-
£35 for 2mtrs? If thats what you mean – Oh My Gordons!!! 😮 …….. Thats about 5 times more than what we pay, shocking! It shouldnt peel either & should probably be the best magnetic sheeting in the world for that price. Is it gold plated?!

Don’t know about Robin Hood, more like Richard Turpin (haha, beat the filter! 😀 ) £35 for 2 metres is plain daylight robbery! As Carrie has said, Europoint and Victory.. also Cherwell Sign Supplies. They all sell for around the £10 a metre mark, and its good quality stuff.
Next time you go into that suppier’s Mike, have a quick look around and make sure they don’t have a musket or pistol hidden behind the counter 😉
Cheers, Dewi
