Neogen Systems
Posted by Marcella Ross on 16 February 2004 at 20:07I got a flyer in this mornings post from Neogen systems, the new name for Impact Sign Services?????????? Is this another name change or has Impact split into two seperate companies that seem to be selling the same products?

Sounds more like an electricity supply company than a supplier of sign graphics 😮
“Buy 200 kilowatts and get 3 free from NeoGen!” 😉
Cheers, Dewi

If anybody is really interested they are more than welcome to call me.
I can say Neogen is ceratinly not “the new trading name of Impact Sign Services” as the letter might have you believe.

The flyer is signed by Nick Lawrence and states “from December 27th Impact Sign Services business will be conducted under a new name: NeoGen Systems, PO Box 61, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 8WN.
It states ‘as an existing customer We look forward to continuing to do business with you!’Who did I buy from as Impact SS?………..Who should I continue to buy from? The products seem to be the same , only the prices differ.

hmmm nasty nick! not my most favourable guy 😆 😆 i once called him when a UKSG member was wanting a cutter. i was wondering could he call them and maybe give them a bit of discount.. you would have thought it was a lung i was asking him to donate. 😕 😆 😆 😆

Yes I received a mailshot the same as Marcellas yesterday. I was under the same impression as Marcella that Impact sign services now had a new name. Included was a questionaire to fill in (which I was going to do because I thought it was your company Brian – but now I’m not so sure 😕 ). Without a doubt this company (Neogen) is trading off the Impact Sign services name.

i think the muddle is because nick used to work along side brian at Impact.
i dont know the ins and outs of it but i would give brian a call rather than me spouting about something i know nothing about. 😮 😆
i do know brian was a software developer for cadlink for some time and also the guy that creates/digitises the vehicle outlines for the libraries. -
Hope I’m not out of turn here, but Brian’s new business name is something along the lines of ‘Impact Graphics Services’… something like that… his website is http://www.impactgs.com/ At the time of this post, there seems to be a server error, but I have been on it and it is Brian’s site.
I think considering the fact that Brian seems to be the artist genius behind the Impact Services, he would be the logical chap to be associated with. I have no idea of the history of this, but Brian is a personable chap and when I have the readies, he’s got my money first time!
If I find the post about all this, I’ll post a link as Brian did mention all this in an earlier post.
Cheers, Dewi

Neogen also have an advertising column in the latest Sign up Date but say Nick and Paul, formerly of Impact Sign Services.
Thanks to Brian for the latest software and the fantastic bargain deal, I was well impressed.
Cheers and good luck (although I’m sure you don’t need it)

Their mailshot letter is certainly very misleading, the Sign Update article written by themselves is corrcet ie “formerly”
Obviously I am not very happy about their letter claiming to be the “new name” this was obviously written by themselves also, so 2 very conflicting stories in the same month? Paul actually worked for us for around a year while I was in the U.S, so to claim he was “instrumental in the success of Impact Sign Services” is also stretching the truth somewhat considering we were trading for around 8 years.
Every outline of version 10 of the cd was digitised by myself, I have been prodicing outlines even before Impact Sign Services. If you have an old Cadlink outlines cd still then you will have some of my work (hopefuly they have improved a lot since those days!)
We did mail our customers letting them know about our new company.
The Neogen mailshot seems to be promoting Ingram publishing cd’s. So they are not selling the same products.
When I left Cadlink I traded as Impact Signs & Graphics as a sole trader(I did have a go at being a signmaker), Impact Sign Services was also a name I chose, that is the reason I chose to stick with the Impact name this time.
We are more than happy to support any Impact Sign Services customers (or anyone else for that matter) & will certainly be hounouring (sp?) our offer of free updates for the vehicle library.
Those are some of the facts so I will let you make your own minds up.

I’m still confused 😮
Bottom line if we want an outline ask Brian…….whatever your companies called 😆Phil

I too had the same letter, Some may have missed the earlier post about Brian and His going it alone.
The letter is very misleading especially with regard to the vehicle outlines. And anyone who takes up the not so bargin offer of £69 will be very dissapointed especially if they are used to the Impact ones, as these are not impact, but ingrams outlines.
But it seams like they are dangling a few carrots to get business.
Pretty poor show to advertise a website thats not up and running especially in this business!

Just got my flyers today
Like the rest of you ……………a little confusedStill! If I had to buy I’d deal with Brian

Hi Folks
How’s about the other ‘Impact Signs’ in the country?
Impact Signs in Aberdeen (Pat)
Impact Signs & Design in Cheshire (Criag Hill)
Impact Signs & Engraving – Aylesbury
and there’s more!Must be the impact of the name that attracts people!
So – just to make sure that the good folks mentioned above aren’t offended (and others) – maybe the offending ‘Impact’ firm should be properly identified by their address so that UKSG visitors browsing the site don’t see any fallout that could effect the innocent!
