Still doing my homework, so here comes another question.

To date all my vector work has been through Illustrator, are these files compatible with
cutter software, ie signlab, and is further tweaking of files usually needed?

Also is there a Mac version of Signlab (or equivilant software)?

    Thanks

They are compatible but can end up being a right mess if you’ve added lot’s of stroke outlines. Just look at the artwork in wireframe view and imagine it being cut.

Depending on your version of illustrator, you may need to go back in and save the illustrator files down to version 6 or 7.

I assume you are running a mac, hence the signlab/mac question, can’t answer it in respect of signlab, but flexisign comes in mac format. or to get started on a smaller budget maybe you could look at magisign a mac add on to cut from illustrator!

Hi thanks Jon/Lorraine I’ll bear those points in mind.

Lorraine I took a look and downloaded a demo version of magisign plugin for future use.
I can use either Mac or PC but my internet access is through the Mac, I’m just off to search
    for Flexisign now.

    Thanks again
