Thanks for that Rob. Like they say some thing you know and others you don’t.

I did not have a clue about what is mentioned in the link provided. makes an intresting read.

I have now made an appointment with the head quak for the paranoia.

Transfered all funds to a business savings account, that paypal don’t know about, and looking for an alternitive means of accepting monies on-line.

Re that link to Paypal, I don’t think you should believe all you read.

The red highlight regarding Chargebacks is untrue 😎

I’ve had a Paypal Merchant account for 3 years or so & just last week received a chargeback from a buyer in Australia. There was fraudulant activity on his Paypal account by someone else, he informed his bank who promptly instigated chargebacks on every transaction on his paypal account for August & September. MINE wasn’t fraudulant, but because of international Banking laws, I had to accept the chargeback & he subsequently repaid me. They have just introduced seller protection for UK/UK & UK/USA trades by the way

Enough now before I bore you (merchant rate with paypal is only 2.7%, what are you that accept cards direct charged??) & Finaly, Ebay own Paypal, so not british, more kind of American!

I alsoi take Nochex & Fastpay, both ok but note Fastpay are just introducing a scale of fees for their FREE service

    Hi

Just like to add my two-pennorth.

I’ve been accepting PayPal now for two years, I also accept NoChex and am thinking of NatWest’s expensive “free” service. The rates are good (particularly since they dropped the transfer fee for amounts in excess of £50.00) compared to the total cost of the alternative of running your own merchant account with all that that entails.

I have had no hassles at all with PayPal or NoChex and in addition I get some good traffic from the PayPal shop directory.

There are anti sites on just about every topic one cares to think of – they even have sites on the web I hear, that advocate total independence for the “och aye mob oop north”

Paypal offers protection on payments for tangible items. It’s great for accepting payments for items you send via post (w/ tracking numbers), but a risk for items you send via the internet (memberships, premium access, etc)

Since being acquired by eBaY in California, it has gotten better at addressing the complaints generated against the service.
