how do i stick acrylic letters to acrylic panel?
We have to stick some acrylic letters to an acrylic panel.
The problem is (or is it me being thick)how can I ensure the correct positioning. I have a location plan (paper) but I can’t see it being of any use.
Is it a case of draw a line and hope?Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If I understand you correctly & your location plan is a full size plot, you could cut out the plotted letters by hand out of the paper (you can stiffen the paper up by covering it in clear vinyl)
Then lay the plan on the base acrylic, in position & fix the letters through the hand cut apertures.

Put the plan on the pex , Use a blade to cut slightly inside the letters , you can cut short sections – or parts that aid positioning , this should go thru the paper and and mark the back section. Remove the paper and you should have the rough outlines of where the letters should go.
Failing that , postion the paper just below where the row of letters should be and lay the letters in the corrct positions in line with the graphic. Use masking tape as a sort of hinge for the letter and then glue em.
Shift down for the next row etcI suggest marine silicon sealant as a glue as you can reposition letters before it cures completely (stuff they seal fish tanks with) , tensols etc dry fast. The silicon is an exceptional adhesive – obviously dont blob it at the back so it squeezes out the sides , a li8ttle goes a long way.
You can remove spills with ascetic acid (vinegar) -

Try rubbing chalk onto the back of the paper Template then position it on to the acrylic panel tape it down to aviod movement and trace the letters on to the panel. Remove template and there should be a chalk outline left. With a Gentle swipe over with a cloth to remove excess chalk.

Thanks to all who replied. There are some worth while answers.
Because I ran out of time i couldn’t check for replies so what we did was to cut a template out of of cuts of vinyl, pick out the letters and stick that to the acrylic as a template. It worked a treat.
The signs are up and the letters at least look straight 😆keith

you almost did it the way i was gonna post and show. but i needed to make some artwork up and load it to explain it proper. hense the late reply by me! 😕

This problem was all part of the same sign with the problem in fitting.
Perhaps after three years a bit of signmakers logic is finallly kicking in 😆Keith
