  Self Extinguishing fire retardant plastic

  I have a contract to screen print some cases for the millitary, part of this will involve the production of labels for the insides of the cases.

  I need a clear plastic that is self extinguishing/fire retardant that i can reverse print and then laminate with adhesive.

  Anyone know of anything suitable to fit the bill?

  Also what would be the best adhesive to use to ensure that once its on it wont come off?

  Does anyone know of anywhere that specialises in this, as i don’t have a laminator I might need to sub part or all of the job out.

  I know a company called Drake does it in the US (i’ve been told by the customer) but i’d like something closer to home.

  Hi lorraine

  try Lexan polycarobonate with or with a textured coating
  you need to be looking at a FR grade (flame retardent)
  this is designed for reverse printing and backing up with 3m tape for hi performance labels.

  as for suppliers try the usual places, Europoint, Cox plastics

  I had thought about lexan but only in the terms of use with a gerber edge at a very expensive cost.

  Is it best to have the 3m adhesive laminated on of is it possible to apply it like vinyl by hand?

  Also is there any specific 3m adhesive? a code number maybe?

  Hi lorraine,

  lexan polycarbonate comes in a sheet size of
  610 x 915 in a number of thickness up to 500 micron (i think)
  367 3m hi performance adhesive, im sure thats the correct number.
  Yes it can be applied by hand or laminator,

  if the 3m adhesive is to expensive you can also buy sheets of adhesive with backing on both sides , so you peel off 1 side apply onto the film then you have a remaining covered side 🙂 this goes by the name of DS2 or Orabond depending on who you go to

  yes lexan film is expensive, but as far as i know its the only fire retardent clear film you can buy.

  amari stock polycard in most mm sizes in sheets of 3m x 2m approx.. they will also cut to size…
  the product your looking for sometimes is discribed as ‘class 0’ for full fire protection and is specified by most shopping centres etc.
