Good morning all. I’ve just taken delivery of my first ever PC. Not from choice you understand, but because it was the only way I could get satellite broadband. The engineers set it up yesterday and I was hoping never to have to touch it again but whilst it is working fine (so far) there is one irritating feature.

I keep getting messages popping up on screen. Some are interesting, like the invitations to visit young ladies in their bedrooms, but there are a lot concerned with increasing the size of my bodily parts, which obviously I don’t need. 😀

I don’t want to spend the rest of my life individually deleting these messages so can anyone tell me if there is a way of stopping them. Please bear in mind that I am PC illiterate so words of one syllable would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

    You can also try http://www.panicware.com

There should be a free program called pop up stopper on there.

I use it and its very good.

    Good luck

I used to get these pop ups before we had a hardwear firewall installed.

I still get them at home even though i have a softwear firewall

    Ok try this.

    click;

    Start>
    Control Panel>
    Administrative Tools>
    Services>

Scroll down the right hand side window till you find “Messenger”.
Right click and select “Properties” and another window will appear titled “Messenger Properties local Computer”.

Look halfway down this page and you`ll see a field titled “Start up type;”

It should be set at “Automatic”, change it to “Manual”

No more pop ups. (hopefully) 🙂
