  • Signs, what one does the company most benifit from?

    Just wondering…
I drive about continually looking at signage. Any type! From hand painted to LED & Neon.. I have my favourites but always think.. “What one has the most impact on the person looking at it”
Yes we want signs to stand out, catch your eye etc.
Neon, it always tops the bill and catches your eye the instant you pass. Most say
The attention you get outways the cost of purchase. Maybe so..
I’m under the opinion it may only do 60% of the job it is intent for.
Nightclubs? 100% yes.. But what about the neon signs for the local chip shop or hair salon. During the day these same neon signs look terrible.. Dusty & blackened. In most cases the clear Perspex box that they are encased in has gone filthy, holding webs & the like.. So do these types of businesses really benefit from having this night-time masterpiece? When their day’s business comes to an end there signs/adverts for custom come to life & offer very little if anything during the day!

My personal opinion lately has been that the built-ups with halo or internal lighting or built-ups with neon outline are far more attractive & do as good a job in the day as they do in the evening.
Ill leave this post at this and see if anyone else is of the same opinion or can rattle my cage and open my eyes to the obvious that I maybe missing..

    Anyone?

If you ask most people if they have a sign at the top of their road most will say yes but few would know if it had gone!

When did you last look at a Belisha Beacon?

My sales pitch on Banners is all about changeability. If someone asks me for a Banner to hang on a Fence for the summer, I often persuade them to have 2 or 3, lower cost ones, and tell them to rotate them.

I think a good sign should say or do three things, 1: This is our Image, i.e. Neon for Nightclubs, Green for garden centres (?)….and 2: This is us and what we do….which is down to the clarity of getting the information across, name, phone number etc., 3: Remember us…..

My personal Favourites: 2′ x 1′ Foamex Boards, hundreds of them which I can do on my Kitchen Table!!
