    Hi,

I have a customer who threatens to imminently send me a purchase order for 122* 30mph street signs. He wants the whole shooting match, posts, signs, rails and clamps.

I’m not too keen on making them, I guess there are sign makers out there better geared up for this type of job than me?

Suggestions, prices, delivery timescales etc would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers
    Ramjam

We supply a lot of street signs to the local council and have found Ashby trade signs to be the cheapest and quickest.
They will supplie the panels to your size with rails already fitted, various size clips and posts>
All you have to do is cut out the 30mph lettering and apply.

Don’t throw this work away as it pays well for hardly any work on your part.

I am at home now and don’t have the number but Iam sure they have a web site. If you want the number I’ll get it for you from work.

They always deliver next day !.

    Thanks Lorraine,
    Thanks Bob,
    Thanks Steve,
    Thanks Marty,

I found Stocksigns to be alarmingly expensive.
I found RBL industries to be very reasonable,
As yet I,ve not managed to get in touch with Rennicks.
Ashby signs sound good, I had dismissed making the signs myself for fear of difficulties getting the right blanks.

Additionally I only have a 610mm plotter or should I say a plotter that takes 610mm vinyl and custs to 585mm This would be too small for the majority of 600mm diameter roadsigns. Any ideas, can I manage with this plotter and a dose of cunning or is it a bigger plotter job?

    Thanks Ramjam

PS Does anybody have contact details for Ashby Trade Sign Supplies, I can’t find them on the web or in yellow pages?

    HI Ruth/Ramjam

    1) You can buy the 600mm signs ready done from most of the ones you have contacted all you have to do is cut the numbers or graphics.

    2) you can buy the reflective stick it on the blank then silk screen a translusent red border or green centre then cut the numbers.

There is a company that supplys a translucent vinyl to go on white reflective to make up the sign colours Ill dig the name out for you when I have a few moments

Bear in mind that there is a good mark up on road signs

    Cheers.

Bob, Hexis do a translucent vinyl to cover reflective and to change the colour of other vinyls but I dont know how you would get round the 610mm plotter problem.

Why not Just cut in half and join? I have seen plenty of street signs like that, plus you will save on material, (as the reflective is so expensive)

    Nearly right
Cut the 610 circles(red) in Quarters and nest them so you waste very little

    Ramjam,
You can buy a couple of blades from edward mathias, buy the reflective, and I’ll run it through my cutter while Ruth & Bridge are here for signschool…….No charge mate but a case of Bud wouldn’t go amiss 😉 .
Give me a call if you like.
    cheers

Good point Bob…! but don’t that double the work 😉

Yes but it halves the vinyl and it only takes a couple of minutes to stik down while a mtr of the reflective stuff can be a small fortune 😆
