    Yep what Nick said!
Bike graphics are few and far between. been looking for years myself the problem is that the manufacturers change their bike models every year to get sales!
And then either don’t do the vinyl or charge an arm and a leg for them if you need them replaced

Make sure the one you have is the stepper motor and not the servo, i think that the servo version was either black or very dark grey, stepper was i think white in color

Yep about 20 to 30 metres for a USB repeater
However I was goingt ot suggest a cat 6 cable with if need be a USB converter to Ethernet converter at the ends their as far as I can tell also a Ethernet system that you can run via your power supply as long as the items your connecting are on the same line. Fleabay is usually e best bet for his.

Not sure if you got a camera yet! but i would stick to fleabay! as their are some great bargains out their if you know what your looking at!

I bought a Nikon D2X 8 Months old with about £400 worth of Extras! Just short of £5000 Worth when new!
It still had 16 months to run on the warranty and I paid just a tad over £1100 for it,
However budjet is the main thing here I would check out http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d60.htm

Mind you I agree with him about the D40 being a better camera than the D60

Hi The guys on here will try to advise you the best they can! Perhaps a little background information would help, ie your setup at the moment! how long you’ve done this!
If your new to this business! Then please say so as some of the tech speak can be a little daunting, (some members will assume that your already at a certain level)

This business if you can make a business out of it! Is baby steps,
Run to far beyond your experience and you will definitely get burned!

If your trying to do print and cut without even knowing how to weed simple cut vinyl properly then your hitting several problems straight away! (Just an example)

It may look like theirs loads of money to be made at this Game! but to be honest, Their really isn’t that much profit if your going to get the reputation of doing a good job then decent quality materials and your time factor into this,
to be honest if this is your first dabble into the vinyl business, Then a must have is a vinyl cutter, Not print! Not print and cut! Just vinyl, Printers are fine for art work! and graphics, But what if you get a job and the customer wants a bright single colour Orange,or Black, or Green(try printing Orange on your current printer) unless you have one of the more professional printers! Printing any color is extremely expensive to print and the final outcome can leave lot to be desired, when you only need a single color, Better to just cut it out of standard vinyl,

Look on flea-bay for just how cheap and nasty some of the quality and vinyl is, For most people this is usually good enough But not if you want to get a reputation for Excellent quality and workmanship!
Martin made a comment about buying in what you need to begin with! An excellent Idea!

Anyway I’m going to stop now as this comment started out as a what he said!

from what I can remember you need to have the drivers installed for this printer in whatever operating system your using xp i think is one of the best and last supported by Roland the flexi driver is just that a flexi driver for the management editing panel.
I also if i can remember! you need to rig the printer up via a Ethernet cable adapter via your parallel port as this stops the printer from going into standby while its printing

Not sure how rates are worked out, But one company that had units told me that the rates are based on 50% of the rental value ie if your rent is £8000 then another £4000 on top of that for rates this was about 5 years ago mind,
What they also told me but i never took them up on the unit was that they would tell the rates department that the rent was half of the amount I was going to give them bringing the rates down, Dishonest yeah! but apparently their are ways of adjusting the money for other things.

I don’t understand why vehicle wrapping is such a competitive market.

It’s difficult, time consuming and expensive (in terms of materials) so why are so many companies trying to compete when it’s so much more lucrative to do vehicle signs in cut vinyl?

In terms of materials cost and time spent pro rata – vinyl lettering generates much greater profits

with regards to flash and the ipad one of the main reasons that jobs wont let flash onto his apple wares, well their are a couple of reason but one of the main ones is security! Flash is now so bloated and vulnerable with security flaws that jobs wouldn’t let it near an apple mobile product in a million years.
PDF reader is now so bad that i only use it on a system that I don’t connect to the net. or I use foxit which to be honest is-int much better.

HTML5 is some say the way forward as it doesn’t require flash However their have recently been quite a few security problems with html5
The trick with adobe is to update as often as you are able to! And then stay off of the net with that system if its a main system computer adobe only update on the 2nd Tuesday of ever third month! You will have a pretty long wait if their is a zero day vulnerability, And their are a lot of them out at the moment, Zero day is a security flaw in adobe that they don’t know about yet! But the bad guys do know about, And use it to exploit your computer I’m cutting myself off now as this could easily turn into a 5000 word doc about adobe and it’s flaws,
if your at all interested in the adobe problem then go to my mate’s website Steve Gibson http://www.grc.com
also he does a pod-cast which is actually very good called security now.

Ps I love my Ipad even if it sounds like a ladies product,
but if you want to read books get a kindle wifi is £109 at the moment and the screen e-ink system is as close to a book as you can get!

Once done clean with siprit to remove any little patches of glue. Its a long process but if it has to be done then this is how i do it

    Boy that takes me back!

We used to use that years ago to clean engine parts, and when I say Clean, I mean you could take the crappiest engine part and it would come out brand new stripped down to the bare metal,
we used to use an old bath with gas heaters underneath it and running water around the top of the bath to keep the vapor in,

Mind you their is nothing and I mean nothing like it for cleaning metal.in it’s vapor form,

It was pretty much like any cheap engine cleaner in liquid form,

H&S would have a Hairy fit if we tried anything like that now.

Take a leaf out of some of the franchised business out there. I recently used one high street printer.

Signed order form confirming the price form clearly says I was happy to proceed.

Deposit required before the start any design with full payment required before the job went into production.

An expensive lesson I wouldn’t waste any time in small claim unless you have anything in writing.

employ a debt collector. They know all the avenues that people try to escape payment. They also know the law. Our collection agents charge on a sliding scale here, no doubt yours do to.

You have her original artwork, she accepted delivery of the sign, it is as good as a signature.

If she does not respond to your demand for payment, outlining the details as to the error being hers not yours, a collection agent is the next step.

From experience, they’ll usually respond from the initial threat of legal action..

I go with Shane’s Debt collector as Ive done this a couple of times And it works!

I presume the substrate is stainless steel, was it totally dry before application? it can by its nature attract condensation, and what grade of vinyl did you use.
Some vinyls do shrink more than others, and a 3-10mm overlap is advisable.

if the van is a snack bar then the substrate is usually made of Glassanite much like most of the container trailers on the road today if not then it’s probably aluminum.

Can’t remember if I tried windolene when I was looking for something to remove scratches from laptop screens so can’t comment further on it. For general cleaning I just use IPA.

But as it was his designer who did it then it’s down to him to make sure it’s correct.

I think that the flack the club will get because of this Could go either way!

it’s unlikely that your going to get someone to just give you an outline Mark!

If you have the impact DVD then contact them direct they will send it to you via email,

However these discs are so expensive that most hold onto them like gold-dust.
you might be able to pick one up on flea-bay

but Impact wont give you any support for it and if you don’t get the book as well then your screwed with regards to finding the correct model without trawling through hundreds of images

If you buy a disc from impact they will give any updates for up to 1 year i think

Windows do an automatic update on the 2nd Tuesday of every month,
if you have auto updates turned on, it is possible that windows change something in it’s system that could have caused your problem also you say you have the program on a laptop have you tried that to make sure that it’s no the dongle

How About some details on your printer setup IE inks printer substrate etc
This will give us a better Idea on were you are equipment wise,

Problems with pigment inks and outside usage are numerous,
OK Pigment Inks will regardless of what the manufacturer says,
Fade like hell in Bright sunlight,
If you use a good quality UV laminate And I mean! A Good quality laminate
Then you may get a year or so out of the print
This is provided your using a good quality Ink,
I know I spent a week or more researching this,
What I came up with is that Pigment inks are superb for indoor use, Although i would still laminate, Even for Indoors,
Substrate is another problem, I know Hexis do a vinyl for pigment ink and outdoor use but they insist that it must be UV laminated and it is for short term usage, best to talk to their technical dept,

Here’s what I would do in your boots, stick with the indoor jobs for your self, Then if you get any outdoor work, Do the art work and as much of the work IE finished fileas you can, Then find someone in your area who can do the outdoor printing and laminating for you,
I know this isn’t Ideal, and their wont be as much profit in it for you But at least this way it will take the burden off of you in the short term.

Try Apple Cinema display if your running cheap monitors, then again quite a few of the cheap monitors have good gamuts these days.

Then look at calibration after that… dont both with tuning crappy old displays

Also LED backlit monitors are certainly worth a look at

Unfortunately I’m not using a Mac so the apple cinema display is out unless it’s a windows program,

I would also need it for either with an add-on or built in Printer calibration So what I see on the screen matches what i actually get of of the printer….
